All Good

Had my post transplant clinic at Leeds last week then just been to see my consultant at local hospital clinic and all blood tests are good. Had another just to check nothings changed. I can't believe it was six months as yesterday that I was given this second chance of life.

Next Leeds clinic 5 weeks new years eve !! not that I'm going out partying I'm too old for that now, but it's scary where has this year gone ?

I mentioned to my consultant about this forum and he said maybe I could help as they are planning to start their own patient forum too.

Had lots of encouragement to go out more and do some voluntary work to try and help with my depression .

Lesley

Hi joe

That sounds great. I can confirm that Volunteering does make you feel much better in yourself - if needed. I only managed 6 months of it ( started about 8 months post TP) but it did help me in more ways than one 👍.

Continuing Good luck to you 👍

Thanks Miles

I did "volunteering" about three years ago it was really forced on me I did it as part of my community service 250 hours for being naughty. I did enjoy it though. Did it in a charity shop and what clothes some people donate are a health hazard ....gross lol

Take care

Lesley

Hi Lesley hmm joe?

You’ve confused me - which isn’t difficult 😀.

Oh dear naughty you 😀 - oops I shouldn’t smile but hey ho all behind you now!

Ah well I have a suit to take to a charity shop - worn for an interview once - do you think that will pass muster? 🤞🙂

If you enjoyed it under duress then you will love it when you don’t HAVE to do it 😀👍,

I hope you can find something! I drove an electric buggy at the Hospital taking patients from A to B. Great fun and met so so many lovely peeps and so appreciative even when they were clearly suffering - very humbling. Typical me I fell out with the NHS Team Leader. Oh dear - that’s me all over, and getting worse!

Joe was my horses name he was going for meat before I bought him hence the name Joeburger...... I know its sick lol.

I don't think that anyone would let me loose on an electric buggy I get funny looks with a shopping trolly in Morrisons. Well put it this way if I hadn't been naughty I wouldn't have stopped drinking and defo wouldn't be here now.

Nowt wrong with growing old disgracefully I say !!

It’s rather funny actually! Hope horsey is OK? Yoiks - probably the wrong thing to ask...

Well I lean in the trolley else I’d fall over so that makes us both funny 😀👍

So being naughty was. A blessing in disguise. Don’t quite get the correlation butI’ll work on it. I may. E gone some time..........🙂. But hope to come back, eventually!

Certainly am disgraceful atm.......

Hi joe,

I am absolutely thrilled you have this second chance and are recovering so well. I imagine you were very poorly for quite a time and it’s natural to be feeling depressed after a period of intense duress. I wonder if you are you able to exercise a bit and to build up hobbies friendships again? And maybe plan things to look forward to? Small steps at a time? Wishing you all the best.

Good luck

Sophie

Thanks Sophie,

I have got a holiday booked for Cyprus next year, I have only paid deposit upto now as I have had to cancel for the last two years because I've been to ill or in hospital. I can tell people my scar is a shark bite lol.

Take care Lesley

That's really great news Joe👍👍👍, and also good you are doing something about your depression. You have had a rollercoaster of a year, and will be coming out of it with the greatest gift of all. Long may your recovery continue apace.

Up, Up, and away 🐱‍🏍🐱‍🏍🐱‍🏍

I can't wait seven months on Sunday not that I'm counting or anything. Going to enjoy Xmas properly first.

That's brilliant news.

I too live about an hour away from Leeds, living in Castleton, Rochdale, my consultant did say I would be sent there when the need arises. Please take care of yourself Lynne

Thank you

Hi Joe

I totally loved reading your message and the nunerous great replies!

I use to live 70 miles away from Leeds in a small village called Grimston on the East Coast, for some apparent reason I always got lost driving out of Leeds after attending numerous NHS meetings ! Wonderful memories to be hold of the numerous traffic jams I was stuck in on the M62 , M18 M1 or A1 over my 20 years of living there!,

I'm about to start some volunteering work at my local hospital in Telford and shall be meeting and greeting patients in the MacMillian Ward along with some possible telephone and admin assistance in the mornings, then carrying out patients surveys around other various wards in the afternoons which I'm so looking forward to as I did a little nursing back in the 70's at the QE Hospital in Birmingham .

Anyway I wish you good luck on your volunteering fventure too and may it all go well for 2020! Up and onwards as the saying goes!

Finally congratulations on you sucessful TP too, may your health continue for many many years ahead .

Love Shropshire Lassie x
