Hi Gold, it's miserable when you are suffering from a bad cold!

Maybe your immune system is just taking that little bit longer to fight off the virus!

With cirrhosis sometimes the body struggles just that little bit harder to ward off the cold and flu viruses!

Have you had your flu vaccine done!

All people with cirrhosis are advised to take up the offer of the flu vaccine to prevent any complications.

If you continue to get worse I would advise you to go to your GP and get checked out!

I personally stand by my honey ginger and lemon drink with a cinnamon stick..it definitely helps me when i have a bad cold!

Hope you start to feel better soon.

But definitely get to your GP if you don't see any improvement in how you are feeling!

Need to let it run its course. I'd a chest infection, Dr give me a little card not depending on Antibiotics. It listed timescales for minor ailments. I already had it over a week, was told to leave it another week and call back if needed. I was barking 3 weeks before it cleared.

Watch out for the Cough mixtures containing Alcohol.

Oh poor you,

There is nothing worse than a ‘simple’ cold when you are already not feeling great. I have had a transplant so have pretty bad immunity and had one three weeks ago - miserable.

If you can I’d say hunker down over the weekend with Netflix or whatever and it WILL get better, believe me. If it goes on for too long then, yes ask the GP’s advice. Don’t take anything in the way of meds you shouldn’t. Ask the chemist if you need to.

Sending a virtual hug

Hi Gold

Cold's can be nasty horrid things to have especially at this time of the year! Hopefully your not like me who usually comes down with cold sore's at the same time.

My remedy is to eat lots of home made chicken soup with a little or alot of chilli added🥵 lol

Listen to your body as I can only presume that it does take longer to recover from a nasty cold with having cirrhosis aswell.

Me, if I'm under the weather I just love lying on the sofa with my furry Santa water bottle keeping my tooties warm drinking lots of hot drinks especially with slices or oranges, lemons, a few cloves and a little honey added all warmed up in a pan and drunk slowly throughout the day which can make you feel or warm and cosy inside when your feeling not so good!

A nice warm mince pie goes down well when your all wrapped up in a blanket or duvet too at this time of the year 😁

Please take care and I do hope you feel much better soon.

My message also goes out the the rest of you not feeling so brilliant either.

Love and hugs to you and everyone reading this!

Some of the hottest chillies are 2.0- 2.5 million on the scoville scale, a birds eye by comparison is only 220,000.

The hottest now is the Pepper X at 3,200,000 units🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

It's sold by the PuckerButt Pepper Company, Fort Mill, South Carolina, who I shop with occasionally.... very aptly named don't you think😊😊😊

in reply todavianne

Bongo after that. On topic are we allowed? I could murder an engine although stop at Vindaloo. Phall is ott. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Not sure if we're allowed, but it's too late now😁😁😁

I make curries not too hot (Annie has her limits), and then make mine hotter with Chilli Pickle🔥🔥🔥

It's just what you get used to😊😊😊

Day 3 for me too, I read once ( don’t know where) a cold is four days coming and four days going. Mine always seem to last forever though, well at least the lingering congestion does.

So I’am pampering for another day at least, with duvet, hot lemon and honey and a good book. ( well a funny one, a laugh is medicine they say). But I know if I’am true to form sinusitis will kick in and last for weeks. So yes I’am with you on the miserable ☹️ Hope you start to feel better soon.

Hi

A cold is rotten at the best if times , if you have cirrhosis or anything else , it will take longer. The hit drink Trish suggested sounds great!! There was a Dr in the TV yesterday that said chicken soup does help. Hope you feel better soon . please take care of yourself Lynne

As Ofeckman say's It just has to run it's course. It's miserable while it does though. Honey and lemon (fresh, not lemsip) are good for a sore throat, and a menthol crystal infusion to keep your nose unblocked.

Your a very naughty Girl Izzy😁😁😁

Gold, I've had a cold for several weeks. Haven't had my flu vac yet because of it. Clinic said there is a cold strain that's hanging around much longer, and harder for us to fight off. If you are feeling really miserable maybe you need a bit more of a professional assessment. Is it possibly flu?
