Hi Shezza yes the itch can drive you to destruction. I myself have scratched mainly my legs and back until I bleed. My legs are like sand paper. I’m not sure about your face but I’m sure others will advise on that.

I get issues with constipation, then chronic diarrhoea this is every week to 10 days with me. I’ve been put on lactulose to try and help.

Has your thyroid been checked? I have dry brittle hair that keeps coming out, not to the extent of bald patches thank goodness. But I have under active thyroid and think this relates to that.

I’m glad you’ve come on here, everyone is amazing and the knowledge you will get is the best. Have you joined PBCforum. It’s unrelated to this, they’re fantastic and there’s so much information for you.

Keep coming here, we’re a nice bunch. Take care my lovely. Jane xx

I will see if can get onto pbc forum .. no I’ve not had my thyroid checked I see my consultant in two weeks so I’ll mention it .thank you for your help sherrie xx

Hello Shezza,

For me (PBC) Bezafibrat helps with itching and a simple Magnesium 400 once a day with constipation. Try both.

Bezafibrat is an old medicine, but for PBC still in Studies and also very promising for PBC.

Doctor can prescribe it for Fat metabolism disorder, and as all PBC -ers of course have this disorder, this is a way for us to get Bezafibrat without waiting years for the admission for PBC.

Please consider these for you: Bezafibrat and Magnesium 400. It really helps me.

Take care

Good afternoon Shezza123,

so sorry to hear your Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC) is making you feel miserable.

If the itch and/or stomach ache is worsening, I would suggest you discuss it with the medical team who look after you, they may be able to suggest further medication.

From a practical perspective, cool loose, natural fibre clothing and lots of moisturiser can help a little and perhaps a cool shower or bath before bed?

From a stomach perspective, changing the times you take your medication can help, but you would need to discuss this with your own medical team.

I have included a link to the British Liver Trust information,

britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...

Also, the PBC foundation may be able to offer suppot from members with similar issues so you feel less alone.

Best wishes ,

Hi shezza123,

Rifampicin was the only soloution for me, speak to gp. Something makes me think that the initial request has to come from consultant but your gp should be able to contact them and get them to tick all the boxes.

Take care xx
