I have stage 4 cirrhosis and had some labs done lately I haven't been feeling very well I haven't talked to the doctor yet he happened to go out of town before I could get the meaning of my results. So I'm going to put them here and if anybody has any ideas of what this means please let me know.

Macrocytosis

2. Mild leukopenia with absolute neutropenia

3. Mild thrombocytopenia

Hi Memoore I think most likely you will get the right answer from your doctor about these results as people here are not qualified or allowed to make assumptions on medical issues..but there possibly might be someone who has actually some knowledge on the conditions you mentioned!

I understand your worried about what all this means but best to get a qualified answer from your doctor asap to ease your mind.

These refer to a lowering of certain types of blood cells in your body. So thrombocytopenia is a lowering of the platelets. It is not necessarily something to be alarmed about, especially since they have described it as mild. I have this condition and unless the numbers drop to a certain level they are not concerned- I have never hit this level yet. I can't give you numbers, because numbers will be unique to each individual.

Neutropenia is a lowering of neutrophils and leukopenia is a lowering of leukocytes. Both of these are white blood cells. Your doc will be able to explain the significance of both of these to you, but since they are being mostly described as mild, I would say don't worry about it, after all you can't actually change anything. They are likely to be caused by the meds you are on. Hope that helps. Just for reassurance, I have had all of these fall into the low category and nothing changed.

Macrocytosis is enlarged or deformed red blood cells, leukopenia & neutropenia are both about reduced white blood cells and thrombocytopenia is low platelets. All of which is common in cirrhosis as it occurs when the spleen gets enlarged as a result of the liver disease.

Not much to worry about especially as they are still saying mild. You'll probably find on scans they will start saying spleen enlarged and a measurement.

Thank you so much for explaining this to me it makes sense now and yes they have noticed that my spleen is enlarged. So another words this is something that probably has been going on for a while. My biggest concern was the fact that I've been vomiting and so nauseous and feeling sick that I got scared when I saw them results because it was something I don't recall seeing before.
