I use tumeric and have had very good pain relief. I used to buy supplements but as with many things you have to be very careful especially with dodgy livers. Always o.k with your doctor first . I used a turmeric/ginger tonic for a few months and it worked fine but I found it to be rather expensive and so I did some research and decided to make my own supply ( of course with the added advantage that I know exactly the ingredients ) of tablets. The recipe is easily to find on YouTube, and includes organic turmeric and ginger, a healthy fat such as coconut, and black pepper which helps with absorption. That is the basic recipe the ratio is 2 to 1 of turmeric to ginger ( ginger is also a great anti inflammatory ) melted into a paste which can be kept in the fridge and used in any recipes, for making golden milk, taken straight from the spoon, ( start at about 1/4 teaspoon ) or I bought some bean ice cube trays for £1.70 online and froze my mixture into tiny tablets, which is what the YouTube folk did. As I mentioned I have had great results using turmeric personally for inflammation and pain, however, please make sure you o.k its use, it can for example thin the blood, so check that you can use it medically. Hello Annie,
I suppose it's one of those questions that can cause others to disagree with, depending where you look and what you read. This NHS study is now some nine years old and the research was carried out on mice. The findings are therefore somewhat dated and may now be spurious: nhs.uk/news/food-and-diet/c...
If then you look at this American study suggests that it could in fact cause even more damage to the liver: livescience.com/63594-turme...
I see from your previous posts that your liver is now cirrhotic, this means it is now unable to repair its self. You could therefore unknowingly be doing yourself more harm than good. There is no wonder cure or drug to repair a cirrhotic liver available as yet. Stem cells research treatments are still along way off, and this research is continuing all over the world.
Please don’t risk messing up your liver any more. Try and remember, that every chemical you take or rub into your skin, will eventually have to go through the liver. Yours is already struggling.
Thanks Richard. I suppose like everyone I would try anything to help improve liver function but i suppose sticking with what I'm doing which kerps things stable is really best way to go
Your most welcome. I have been there, the first thing I wanted to do when I had cirrhosis was to take extra iron tablets. I knew that the liver was a strong source of iron, so I thought I was doing some good. But I was later told that there can be sometimes more iron in a damaged liver, then in a healthy one. I think we all want to try and do something to make our livers better again, but a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.
Hello Annie, I saw my liver specialist yesterday and asked him if turmeric is fine to take. His answer was no. His answer to apple cider vinegar was no too. All the best
Morning, This is why I said to check with your Doctor. My Hepetologist is fine with me using turmeric/ ginger for pain relief, he,d much rather that than paracetamol. Wow, it is blowing an absolute gale here, hope you are o.k where you are!.
Hi Annie, like others I use natural herbal remedies too. I don’t use any pain killers at all. However, that’s a risk I take on myself. It’s hard to advise others. But since you have asked I will speak about my experience. I have noticed by using natural remedies it does help a lot. At the moment I’m taking two spoon freshly squeezed lemon juice One spoon local honey, pinch of home grind black pepper and finally two pinches of Tumeric powder.
Mix everything and let it set for half an hour then take the mixture on an empty stomach. This is what I do. Please get advise from your consultant if you wish to try. The other thing you can do is boil parsley and drink the water. That is very useful.
Hope you are feeling better.
Hopexx
