My 31yr old son suffers from severe pain in his bones. He abused hard drugs for years and believes that it is the drugs the have done the damaged. Has anyone else heard of this? Ed wont go back to his GP for help anymore as he was accused of being a hypochondriac!

Drug abuse and bone pain.. is there a connection
Whilst this is a liver forum rather than drug or bone. I have had a quick scan online to see if I could answer.
Was your son abusing an opioid drug? Opioid use can lead to osteoporosis (bone thinning) which in turn could cause pain.
If he was an intravenous user he might have been at increased risk of bone infections and/or septic arthritis. I found this US page on Drug Abuse effects on joints drugrehabfl.net/effects-of-...
It might be worth your son going to GP again, it's a great pity they haven't been particularly supportive thus far, however, it is indeed possible he has some issue with his bones and joints as a result of a drug habit.
I take it he is now clean and these joint pains arn't a symptom of recent withdrawal.
Hope he gets some appropriate help quickly.
All the best, Katie
candy - bone pain can be caused by lack of Vitamin D. A blood test could show if this is so, and a blood test also could show if his bones are breaking down faster than average. It is important for him to face up to his GP, or find another one if he thinks that would be better. He needs reassurance, and he needs treatment if his bones are breaking down. Best wishes.
Bone pain with pbc is real my legs feel like they are on fire sometimes my whole body aches my joints feel like they are burning up.
I’ve only ever taken prescription drugs. But you should go to your Gp ask for a double appointment good luck 🌟
