As a recently diagnosed AIH, am still being ambushed by different symptoms. This week it has been nausea caused by a build up of mucus in my nose and throat although I don't have a cold or any allergies. Two mornings running it has caused me to lose my breakfast about an hour after I have eaten it and this worries me as I have taken my meds (Prednisolone and Azathioprine) immediately after breakfast and fear I may have lost them too.
I have also just started a new pack of Pred and I see the pharmacist has given me Solupred which has a slightly fruity and fizzy taste. I assume that they are all the same thing and it's just a brand name change?

I can only say that I take my Azathioprine in the evening at the same time as my second set of tac tablets. This is how I was told to take them by QEHB. I have been told by a locum Consultant that that is an unusual time and he said he couldn’t even find that time option on the computer when he came to issue a new prescription. Unusual maybe but I do what I’m told 😁👍.
Hope you can find a solution to your sickness and also maybe you try and find out why you Pred is now different!
Hi I am very lucky I don’t seem to get any sickness with my Azathioprine but have heard that a lot of people do . I have read that a few people take the tablets just before they go to bed so to be asleep before the sickness hits them, might be worth a try 🤔. Very good luck with it it can’t be nice.
Yes. Thanks to both Dogbot and Cloudy. I have waited till now to have an early lunch (we are 1 hour ahead of you) and then took all the pills immediately after. I don't think the Aza is a problem (I have been taking it for nearly 5 months now with no adverse reaction) but I suspected the new version of pred. On googling it I see now that the clue is in the name - SOLUpred - you have to dissolve it on the tongue or in a glass of water before swallowing. Fingers crossed that that has cracked it.
That’s good. I had a Really bad reaction with Azathioprine. Stopped taking them after 3 weeks. By that time it killed my white blood cells, lost all my hair etc. Was hospitalised for a week. Luckily was treated in time but it was a very scary experience 😟 hope you are doing well. Hope
I have taken on board various suggestions. I don't think it matters whether you take the Aza at night or in the morning. I tried taking it at night and had
one really bad night when I wasn't precisely sick but was spitting out lots of clear mucus - very unpleasant. My next experiment was to stop taking it altogether for a couple of days and I was fine so I think it is Aza causing the problem, not the Pred. Then I went back to taking just half a dose (50mg instead of 100mg) which my doctor wasn't terribly happy about but said if it was just for a few days......... We are on holiday doing a lot of travelling so I didn't want to be puking at the roadside. (Sorry if you are having your breakfast.) Maybe I might try asking if a different brand would make sense.
But as I said in my earlier post, I had been taking it for 5 months before I began to feel sick (though I often had a horrid waxy taste in my mouth).
