Hello. I'm 20 years old and have been diagnosed with advanced fibrosis. It's all been very confusing because I've had blood tests and an ultrasound which have all come back normal but the fibroscan says differently. The ultrasound detected a benign polyp but nothing else. I don't have any of the risk factors for advanced fibrosis either. I did have a fatty liver when I was overweight four years ago, but I managed to reverse it. I worry that this might have caused the scarring. I've also had severe stomach pain on three occasions. With the third attack, I woke up the next morning with jaundice which lasted for three days. I'm just very confused. I very rarely go drinking and have kept to a healthy diet since losing weight. My stomach has also felt bloated for the past couple of months, and my skin is blotchier than usual. I'm at a loss what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Advanced fibrosis
Hi jarvCurt are you under the care of a consultant? If so you need to ask the reason what could be giving these test results and try and get some answers!
You are a young person to have developed fibrosis without there being an actual cause! Could it possibly be autoimmune I don't know! but go back to your consultant or doctor and ask some questions as clearly you haven't really had a clear answer to the cause of these results!
Sorry I can't say much more as there could be potentially a lot of conditions that can cause fibrosis..make an appointment and try not to worry too much until you speak to your doctor!
Hi
I agree. Please make an appointment first thing in the morning so that you get an appointment. I go round first thing if I need a same day appointment. Take care Lynne
Hi Jarvcurt,
I think this is possibly one of those situations where you may be frustrated for a time. Sometimes getting a diagnosis as the cause of anything can take some time and lead you up a few blind allies in the process.
Keep plugging away with your doctor to try and get to the bottom of things.
I would go back and ask the doc exactly what you have asked here. Write your questions down firstly, it helps so you won’t get distracted and forget to ask. Ask your ‘whys’ and then ask ‘what can you do, look for, test for’, finally ‘is there anything I am doing, food, drink, supplements, exercise etc.. that needs changing that will help’.
All the best 🌻
