Went to bed as normal, but at around 5am I woke up shaking like mad and as if I was freezing.
Made my way around the house, closed windows etc and put an extra layer on and after about ten minutes the shakes stopped. This continued 4 or 5 times every 20 minutes after I fell back asleep
I've not long woke up and had to dash to the loo with a really sore stomach, then when done I was sick immediately.
Now I'm feing like crap and knackered into the bargain.
Sound familiar to anyone?

Im not medically trained however sounds similar symptoms i had when i had gastroenteritis. Keep up fluids ,rest and maybe get app with doctor.
Hi Xen. I had similar symptoms years ago with food poisoning. Violently upset stomach, shivering and couldn't get warm. It came on 24 hours after eating chicken, that I learnt after the event, had been thawed and then refrozen, then thawed again and cooked. The extremes in temperatures we have experienced lately usually puts food contamination on the rise too. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids even if you don't feel like it and if the symptoms worsen or if they persist for more than 24 hours get checked out by a doctor. Hope the worst of it is over for you. Best wishes. Alf
Thanks Alf. That's quite reassuring. I have a dull pain in my liver are that comes and goes but wonder if I'm dehydrated. Will get plenty of water down me. And see how the next 24 hours go.
I wouldn't think so. I never had any kind of stomach upset with that. In fact I felt on top of the world, Had no idea that I had a problem. It was my poor wife that suffered
Unlike bigfred I was actually frequently sick after HE episodes. It happened so often that I got to expect it. My HE episodes almost always happened at night. Stayed out of it till mid to late morning- got up - sort of - if I didn’t try and put my shirt on my legs and brush my teeth with shaving foam - and then would be sick in the afternoon.
BUT it may well be “just” gastroenteritis - I have no medical knowledge-just my experience.....
“Hope” (you know what I mean😁) it was a sickness bug.
Sounds like bad food or stress. Stress can make your tummy ache. Interestingly, the liver doesn't have any pain receptors. So you might not feel your liver, that might be your tum!
See I had read that too so i wonder where that pain under the ribs comes from.
Hi
Sorry to hear your poorly! Drink lots of cooled boiled water and stay away from diary products including milk for 24 hours or until you feel a little better! If still the same in 48 hours call 111 for advice.
Please take care and rest!
Love Trish xxx
I had a similar thing about 2 weeks ago which only lasted just over 24 hours.
I've had similar symptoms on a few occasions. I thought it might be low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) so I ate a bowl of cereal & went to bed for a while. A damaged liver can struggle to supply the body with enough fuel if it runs low on glycogen. If it happens again it might be worth eating some carbs that are easily converted to energy by the liver. It couldn't do any harm.
Hmm, yes sounds very familiar. I had a few weird days where I got completely confused about things, then threw up for no reason, as well as sitting on the loo for loads of time!!
After the first day of my transplant assessment, I threw up from Birmingham to Bath!! Don’t think my other half was too impressed, and I didn’t enjoy cleaning the car the following day!!!
I now put these all down to HE episodes, and after another ‘mad’ episode I had they gave me spironolactone (although bizarrely I didn’t understand why at the time - only found out post transplant!!)
