Finally made the list . Think I'm feeling relieved if not a bit numb to be honest. Back to Kings next week for an induction meeting. Let the waiting begin. Have been told anywhere between 4 to 18 months.

Made the TP list
Great News, Maxey👍👍👍 I hope the wait is not too long😊😊😊
David
Congratulations on getting on the list, it’s such a relief and the start of the next part of your journey. I hope that you get the call very soon.
Mark
Great news Maxey. It must feel like a huge weight has been lifted from you. It's a stressful time when going for assessment worrying about the outcome. Now it's case packed and glued to the phone time and that call always comes when least expected. Hope it's soon. Very best wishes. Alf
Cheers Alf. 0230 seems to be the common consensus. Bag all done. Officially on the list from Wednesday after the 3 hour induction.
Hi Maxey
If you have someone going with you, get them to pack at least a washbag ready. When my husband was called he had his bag ready, but I had to chuck a load of clothes, washbag etc into a bag with half an hour notice, before the ambulance turned up to blue light us up the M4 to Kings (also had to sort out the kids and make calls etc. etc. in this time).
My husband was also told it could be a long wait as he wasn't super urgent (52 UKELD I think), but it was only 3 months. Total shock at the time! Oh and 7pm on a Saturday evening, not the middle of the night.
Be ready, but try not to think about it, or it will drive you mad.
Good luck with it all.
Jess
Congratulations max! I know this will seem surreal .well It felt surreal to me and it still does five months later .hopefully you won’t wait to long.i waited three months for mine and I was so relieved when the call came.its still a journey but at least I’ve a future now hopefully.well i know I won’t be dying of cirrosis anyway.so wish you well.paul
Thanks Paul. How are you feeling now?
Hi max.i won’t lie it’s been tough but I’m still here anyway.i was very anxious before but that’s what living with cirrhosis does to you.but every pain and ache after the operation I’d fret that something is wrong but that’s stopped and I now feel totally different and I feel amazing. İts also changed my outlook on life but I suppose having a death sentence hanging over you then being given another chance does that. And naively thought I’d be up and running a week later but I’m getting there and I’m going back to work shortly.
Absolutely awesome news Maxey, I could not be happier for you.. Stay fit and well now. We are all thinking of you. Let’s hope it is nearer the 4 months, but be prepared anyway. I was 12 months.. Good Luck on your journey.
Many thanks.
Great news Maxey, 🤟. I know how strange it feels getting that news, I was surprised even though I'd pretty much been told that now is the time. I think the new allocation system means even the Dr don't know how long you'll wait. I have B + blood, so was told it could be 18 months - 3 years. Yet I had a call after just after 2 months. It didn't go ahead as the liver was discovered to be not healthy.
So try to get on with your life, but be ready. Good luck for your future health.
Take care x
Thanks. It will happen when it happens I guess.
Yep, that's how I look at it. In fact I'm so relaxed about it, I keep forgetting my phone. I've left the house several times without it, had to go back for it. Or at night leaving it downstairs then waking up realising what I've done. I'm a fairly useless TP waiting list patient!! X
All the very best to you Maxey. Look forward to hearing more good news from you soon. You will be very well cared for as I'm sure all the transplant patients can verify.
Laura xx
Fabulous. Great to hear, there is far too much critism of the NHS, but like you, the transplantees on this forum are some the most gracious people I have ever come across. Their gratitude to the donors families, to the surgeons who perform their life saving and life changing operations to the nurses who take care of them afterwards, knows no bounds.
Sadly my husband didn't make the list, he needed liver and kidneys but the damn alcohol won that race I'm affraid. But the care he recieved and the compassion shown to me from diagnosis to the end cannot be faulted.
Lots of love Laura x xx
Hi
So pleased for you. Onwards and upwards. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
So happy for you Maxey! Best wishes while you wait. Take care.
Well done and good luck
When hubby signed his consent form the surgeon said he would see him in a couple of weeks....4 days later it happened
So happy for u it's the next stage to feeling better. I was 1 of the very lucky ones as was only on list for a matter of hours before getting the call and was operated on the same nite it's been 14 weeks and so far so good. Take care and look after ur self in the meantime.
Congratulations hope you don’t have too long to wait
Im over the moon your on the list and i hope the call comes very soon x
Congratulations ... the countdown begins !!
Congratulations on getting listed. I was told about the same wait at Kings, but had the call after only 3 weeks after the induction.
Hi Paul
That was quick. How are you now?
Really well thanks. I had transplant in October 2017 and was back to work in 4 months.
I now only have check ups in Kings every 4 months.
Isn't it encouraging ? Xx
Very much so.x
I would just say, having read lots of stories on here from transplant patients, dont get downhearted if you get called and then sent home again. Obviously it is because it is vitally important that they get a perfect match for you and in tip top condition. So it may take several visits. But with more donors now becoming available hopefiully it will all run smoothly.
Enjoy the Thames xxx
Thanks Laura. Yes I've read on here that a few visits seem to be norm. A small price to pay I think. I'm just elated to finally get to this stage and feel I can breathe out regardless of how long I will have to wait. Xx
You've attitude to it all. There's such wonderful support here from those who have gone through it. All the very best Maxey xx
Great news that you are on the list. I hope you wait isn’t too long but there is no guide nowadays as it is a national system. Hopefully you’ll do better than me, I had 4 calls to Kings before I had a suitable liver. They were always very supportive and helpful at each stage and especially supportive when the organ was not viable and we had the long and slightly depressed drive home.
Still all done now (TP in March) so now on the next stage of my journey - the road to recovery.
Good luck and I hope it all goes quickly and smoothly for you - Peter
I imagine all thoughts of a jollies are now in room 101? being listed means that you have to stay local but knowing you have this chance at much healthier future must have you nervous but also so very very optimistic. You will be packing a case, but hand luggage only ! .
Awesome .. hopefully sooner than later !!
