Hi Steak, I didn't have kidney problems but I was told that it's not unusual after liver transplant and to drink plenty of water. I have been doing that for the last 5 years anyway because of the cirrhosis pre transplant. Drinking water is never a bad thing for your organs. All the best. Alf.

Yes my hubby did. Was on dialysis for a couple of days post tp and it was a few months before kidneys settled. All ok since.now nearly 8 years post tp

Hopefully yours will settle too.

I was left with chronic renal disease after transplant (1 year ago) It's the effect the anti-rejection drugs can have on the body. I had no problems with my kidneys pre-transplant. Although I'm classed as having renal failure my bloods are stable and I have no symptoms so it's easy to live with. Yours doctors will keep an eye on your levels but most probably no action will be required xx

Yes fighting to get my kidneys to work properly. They keep reducing the Tac however my kidneys are only working at about half normal - I had no kidney problems before TP - drinking plenty of water but still not recovered. See what next week brings at the clinic.

Until they improve they can't do a CT because of using contrast - they do have a plan of using IV fluids to "flood" the body with water before using contrast to protect the kidneys. But this is still being discussed by other departments to see if it is the correct approach.

Hiya steak x it's the norm the tablets are a killer, fingers crossed yours will improve too late for mine though I just been told in Feb I will need a kidney transplant in the future.. Funnily enough I got my appointment today with my kidney consultant lol

I have done a lot of research into the best action and in the last six months I have made my kidneys quite stable by cutting out dairy and red meat completely and of course plenty of water 💦

Hiya hunni 😊

My problems started before transplant I ended up in hdu 3 times with kidney failure... After transplant they levelled out and were fine for a year and then function started dropping rapidly and 6 months ago they were dangerously low so I changed my diet and in the last couple of months I have raised the function and it's been stable for a bit now they are quite happy at the moment still under par but kidney consultant is just bothered that liver stable as he says there is more they can do to help the kidneys x
