Hi everyone. Hope you are all having a "good " day. I am feeling a bit down. Struggling to be optimistic. Yesterday had to have an emergency appt with gp as had grown huge even legs and feet (not like me) Anyway, diagnosed with Ascetes. So I guess I have flipped from stage 2 to stage 3 (decompensated) Have made a private appt with my consultant for when he returns from hols as NHS not till Sept! But feeling this is the beginning of the end. Jacquie
Feeling low today: Hi everyone. Hope you... - British Liver Trust
Feeling low today
Am very sorry to hear your bad news I currently have cirrhosis of the liver and have no problems at the moment my liver specialist called me a ticking time bomb because my liver can change for the worse at anytime. And I am worried but then I decided what will be will be but I'll give it a good fight and not give up ,and that's my message to you if it's gone to stage 3 it dosent mean the end there's lots of things that they can do to make you feel comfortable it's okay for me to say that because I haven't got to that stage yet all I can say is try not to worry you've got a lot to deal with at the moment so try to think positive, have you got family and friends to support and to talk to about how your feeling if not you have mine and all the others support on this group good luck X
Thank you Broomhall79. I have a wonderful husband who is very supportive and positive and I am usually positive. But this came so out of the blue it has knocked me a bit. Anyway, I am waiting for an scan to confirm the excited so who knows, gp could be wrong. Thank you for your good wishes and I wish you continued "good" health as for as we can . Jacquie
That's good that you have your loving husband for surrport fingers crossed π€everything's okay and if it isn't then am only a message away take care X
So sorry Prayers. I have stage 2 fibrosis is that what you had? That worries me π’
No. I had stage 2 cirrhosis. Try not to worry. You may have yrs and yrs of fibrosis before it cirrhosis (if ever....at least that's how I understand it) Take care. Jacquie x
β₯οΈThank you. Feel better. Hugs π€. I pray I do. ππ
I am sorry about your news but I would definitely wait until you see your Consultant.
Ascities is the fluid that gathers around the stomach, itβs Oedema that is the legs and feet, gravity. So try and keep your legs up when you can and I presume that you have been prescribed diuretics? Hopefully by following a healthy diet and taking care of yourself, things will improve.
Best of luck with your appointment.
Mark.
Thank you TT. Yes, I am keeping my feet up as much as possible. And am on 2nd day of diuretics. But have been vomiting this afternoon and I blame them. You are right, I am not going to worry until I have seen my consultant. The GP said he could hear/feel the ascites in my abdomen but he could be wrong. Thank you again for your good wishes, and I hope you are keeping well. Jacquie

Hi donaldsgirl
Welcome to this friendly forumπππ
Your September NHS appointment- has that just been arranged as a result of what the doctor told you or was it an existing appointment? If an existing one then either your doctor or you could try and get it rearranged due to your changed circumstances? Depends I guess how bad it is and how you feel - like any other symptoms?
What do you mean by the beginning of the end? Just follow everything you are advised to do by medically qualified people and see what improvements you can make. Your doctor gave you some advice surely? And have you been referred to a liver clinic? If not why not?
Good luck!
Miles
Hello Miles. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me. I have been a member of this for am for a couple of yrs and feel I know you well. I am one of those lazy members who read everyone's story but hide away quietly. My NASH went to cirrhosis about 2yrs ago. I am under a gastro who is in the process of transferring me to the QE B/ham. My GP rang his secretary to get me seen but he is on holiday so she sudgested i see him privately on his return. (I have done this before when the wait is too long) Today i am feeling my usual possitive self again thanks to all your support. I do hope you are having a good day and tjank you again for your good wishes. Jacquie
Hi Jacquie
Sorry I didnβt realise you had been around for years - very presumptive of me ππ».
So you seem to be getting appointments sorted out a little or will be π. QEHB as well - canβt be bad πππ. My favourite Hospital - canβt think why π.
I never knew you could see a Consultant from there privately - but thatβs good if stops you having to wait too long. Itβs a shame they canβt clone some of the Consultants there to help speed up the NHS waiting time ππ.
Glad youβre a bit more positive - and good luck for when you do see someone at QEHB!
Miles
Hi Miles. I have obviously confused you. I didn't word it very well. I am in the process of being transferred to the QE. It's my gastroenterologist at Hereford I see privately once in a while. But he told me that the QE were starting to come and do clinics in Hereford!!! Which would save some of us the haul up to B/ham. I don't know if that clinic has actually started yet. I do hope you have had a good day. And that you get a good night's sleep. I am in London tonight, so strange bed etc etc. Night night. Jacquie
Aha I understand now Jacquie! I got to QEHB because one of their Consultants did joint Clinics with Derby once every two or three months. It was thanks to those Clinics that I got sent to Birmingham! Derby did not think a transplant would solve all of my problems. They were right but it was my liver that was life threatening, other issues were just debilitating ones!
I had a brilliant day actually thank you. I have been a pretend patient at Derby Royal for 3rd year trainee doctorsβ exams. I just had to learn a scenario and was then quizzed by 20 doctors one at a time, 10 minutes each. It was very serious stuff (which it should be!) but it was very interesting and great to see we have some excellent doctors coming through! Same again tomorrow...
Strange beds.. I like my own bed, donβt we all! Hope you can get some sleep! Turn off your iPad/iPhone. ππ
Nite nite
Miles
Hi TwoSmiles. Thank God you got to QEHB! And I see you are coming up to your special 1st b/day. π Your pretend patient job yesterday sounds great fun and SO worthwhile. Hope it is all going well again today. Keep up the good work of getting more and more fit. Again thank you for your kind replies. Jacquie
twosmiles - thatβs a blast from the past π. Great day today again - Thank you!
Hope you got some sleep!
Threesmiles
Oh and yes - Iβm very glad I got to go to QEHB πππππ
Hi donaldsgirl. I'm so sorry to hear your feeling so low. Many of us here have these setbacks to deal with, so empathise with your feelings. Miles is right, you should try and get your consultant appt brought forward, as you have new concerns. I had concerns with my cirrhosis over Xmas, phoned the consultants secretary, and got my appt brought forward. I have never been referred to a specialist clinic, so just have to rely on my local services, which I feel have recently been deteriorating.
I hope you can get your concerns addressed soon.
David
Hi Donaldsgirl
Hopefully today your feeling slightly better after receiving all the wonderful notes above from your friends. I would like to become one of them by saying 'Hang On In There! Your a fighter too! Some on here have mentioned only being given numerous months to live and that was a few years ago!!π i know you can do it with the support and love from everyone on here, including from me!,
Keep thinking positive thoughts and yes see if it's possible to bring your September appointment forward !
Take care Donaldsgirl

Hi Donaldsgirl
Well it's around 18 days since I last wrote tobyou and thought I'd just check-in to say hi and hope alls well with you?
Hooe your having a lovely weekend wherever you maybe
Love Trish x
Hi Trish. Thank you for thinking of me and yes, I am feeling much better thank you. My GP put me on diuretics which cleared the water in no time and I am 14 or so pounds lighter! The appt for the ultra scan is not till this week and so my consultants secretary advised me to put off my appt with him till we have the results back. So I don't see him till 18th I think. Hopefully this will determine if I did have ascites or not. Fingers crossed!! I hope you are keeping as well as you can and enjoying this lovely weather. Jacquie x
