Flu and Fatigue

Hi there, I have Chronic Liver Disease and have a Fibroscan appointment on Tuesday. At last some answers. I have had a really bad chesty cough and streaming nose for 4 weeks now and start a second course of antibiotics today. Could this be related to Fibrosis/Cirrhosis. I've never been ill like this for so long. If I go to work I get sent home but am going to try and go back tomorrow (I work for the nhs). I have absolutely no energy. Was just reading through posts and wondered if anyone could help. Thank you

I don't think this is particularly linked with liver disease there are just some absolute stinking colds leading to chest infections going around at the moment. I work in schools and these 4-5 week virus's seem to really be going about just now. Kids and teachers are literally barking with coughing so hard.

With that in mind your liver numbers are likely to be elevated, your liver playing a role in infection control and figures like ALT do rise when you are fighting bugs elsewhere in the body.

Fingers crossed for your Fibroscan on Tuesday and that it provides another piece of the jigsaw puzzle re. diagnosis etc.

Have you had any blood tests? I have had suspected pneumonia and the c reactive protein was very high.. Like you I am exhausted, still have a lingering cough but it's the fatigue which is the toughest part. I am back at work but struggling with full days. I also wondered if there was a link between Liver issues and lower immunity.

Hiya enuk, thank you. Not had any blood tests since December. I see my consultant every 6 months but he will be performing my scan tomorrow so am hoping he will send me for bloods tomorrow. I am pretty worried as I've found it hard to stop drinking, stupid I know. Hopefully what we have is just a bug. I have never had a cough like this before its exhausting.
