Has anyone developed liver problems from vaping?
Vaping : Has anyone developed liver... - British Liver Trust
Vaping
The e-cigs craze is so new there probably hasn't been enough time for full studies as to their impact on the liver. However, there was a report released in March 2018 that concluded that mice exposed to vaping developed Non-Alcohol Related Fatty Liver Disease.
This is an excerpt:-
"Vaping can lead to liver disease, suggests new research. Researchers found that high nicotine in electronic cigarettes causes non-alcohol fatty liver diseases in mice. ... They found changes in 433 genes that were associated with fatty liver development and progression in the mice exposed to e-cigarettes."
I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease 18 months ago. Cut way back on my drinking. Still I feel tired and my joints hurt constantly. I think I’m done drinking entirely soon as it is no longer enjoyable. Vaping also needs to go I think. I quit for 4 months last year but it is difficult when my wife blows it in my face!
Have you had any recent blood tests Josh? Are your levels elevated? What tests did they do to conclude NAFLD? I am just wondering with you saying you have joint pain and fatigue - was a liver biopsy done or any tests of your auto-immune antibodies. Auto-Immune Hepatitis often leads to joint pain and fatigue and would be another cause of non alcohol related liver disease.
Might be worth asking for further tests if you are symptomatic like this.
Vaping and all booze being removed from your system can only help in the long run.
