Does anyone know whether a healthy faeces should float or sink
Faeces should it float or sink - British Liver Trust
Faeces should it float or sink
From A level Human Biology my understanding is;
Normally, dietary fats are broken down within the gut by bile from the liver via the gall bladder. Faeces which have a high fat content will float. Bile also gives the 'normal' stool its colour, therefore, if it persists, a white floating stool is something that should be bought to the attention of your GP.
Hope that helps.

Thankyou, that just confirms things for me I was eating far too much rubbish fat sugar you name it I have autoimmune hepititis don't drink smoke but up until 3 days ago ate rubbish I've changed my diet eliminated all rubbish drink water n exercise so I'm really hoping with this ongoing lifestyle change I will see improvements
Poop should always sink. Even when brown if it consistently floats it's not normal. LAJ123 is right on how that works. Can also happen in pancreatitis. But check with the doc on why it is happening. If it happens once in a while it's nothing of concern usually
Think it's all to do with what I was eating n the imflamation in my body this has been ongoing for years just changed lifestyle dramatically to get n feel healthier also have fatty liver and few other health conditions thankyou . I will get there in the end feel really stupid knowing what I've done eating rubbish has caused so many things to go wrong in my body,
Do not beat yourself up about the past, leave it there. It is the here and now that you have to face. You are and by the sound of it, positively.
In current psychological thinking, yes your parents were dysfunctional, how are you going to deal with it going forward?
That's so true, I am now concentrating on the now and future can't undo the past , thanks
Spot on brother!
Malabsorbtion. Too much fat in your poo, fat floats.
As thing change inside from your efforts you should see that ship sink with it 😊
