Hi my sister is In hospital with yellow eyes and she’s lost so much weight also not eating and vomiting she was also a heavy drinker but doesn’t admit it. I’m so worried what does this mean also her stomach is swollen she’s waiting for a ct scan on Monday or Tuesday what should I exspect please 🤞🏻

Hi Angie, I would say your sister is in the correct place just now to get treatment for her issues. If she is a heavy drinker and has been for some time the symptoms you describe are potentially indicative of either alcohol related hepatits (liver inflammation) or more advanced liver damage.

In some cases the patient will respond well to medical intervention and take it as a warning and hopefully going forward make amendments to their lifestyle to prolong their liver health. If she doesn't admit her level of alcohol usage and continues then she could be on a very slippery slope.

Have a read at the British Liver Trust page on Alcohol and the liver. It might give you the heads up on what the current situation is likely to be. If you are going to be supportive to your sister you might want to also touch base with Al-anon which is a support network for the family members of problematic alcohol users.
