Request from the British association for the study of the liver ( BASL) regarding end of life care in liver disease

Dear all,

Please see below for a request from Dr Mark Wright, hepatologist and member of the end of life care in liver disease special interest group.

At the British Association of the Study of the liver (BASL) we recognise that despite everything we do, patients will eventually come to the end of their lives. How we look after them in the time leading up to this is very important, so that we can ensure their comfort and dignity and avoid over testing and treating. We have recently set up a special interest working group to try and improve care in this setting and we are looking for patients and carers to help guide us to what is most important.

We would be grateful for your time, which would probably amount to 2 or 3 meetings a year and some reading and commenting on the work we produce. Do you think you could help?

If you are interested in helping, please contact helpline@britishlivertrust.org.uk

Thank you.

Hi,

I am going to guess that this would be primarily for those living in the UK.

Hi Mary, yes it is.

Who is this invite to? Those who are nearing EOL or anyone who has had or has liver issues, or those who have had t/ps?

in reply to

Hello,

My understanding is that the invitation is directed to those who have liver disease (not specifically transplant patients) and to those who are caring for someone with liver disease.
