Don’t Jump the Gun - Liver

Hi

I joined here last week having developed what I believed to be liver pain. Having been diagnosed with a slightly fatty liver last year the pains I recently started to get had me very worried. I’ve read lots of post on here where my symptoms of pain and itchy skin had me firmly thinking I was on my way, if not there already, to fibrosis/cirrhosis.

I’ve seen my doctor had bloods done but not had the results yet but I managed to get a cancellation so got a very quick ultrasound appointment. This has shown my liver to still be mildly fatty. This is a massive weight off my shoulders and I guess I’m telling you all this with the clear message that other people’s symptoms and posts don’t specifically apply to you. Yes they are handy for info but but please get checked out and try and not worry (completely appreciate easier said than done) excessively. I had been struggling with anxiety over all of this and it comes to a point where you don’t know if the anxiety is contributing to the symptoms.

The doctor believes it’s likely I have Costochondritis which is inflammation of the ribs. All this said this difficult week and reading on here the details of people who are sadly affected by Liver issues has completely changed my outlook on life. I needed to clean my act up on all fronts, diet, excercise and alcohol and I’m certainly doing this now.

Warmest wishes everyone.

Mark

Totally agree Mark. The people on here are not medically trained and are in no position to diagnose others. We can however, based upon our own experiences suggest that people need to seek further medical assistance where necessary.we are all individuals and each of our bodies can deal better with certain ailments than others. I was told I had 6 months Max in Dec 16, well that was wrong, but that would have been correct

For somebody else. That is merely an example of how the medical profession aren’t always correct either.

So pleased for you Mark. I can understand the worry you have been through but hey, it does put things in perspective for you as to the revaluation ofyour everyday life which is very precious to all. You only get one chance at it - take it easy hey.
