My BG is B rh negative. Has anyone else got this blood group? I'm told it's rare and may cause a delay with getting a liver for a transplant.

I don’t know but I was told that my group A+ made finding a donor easier - sorry
You never know, sometimes having a rare blood group gets you a transplant sooner since there will be less patients waiting for that blood group & with the new national allocation system it means you are on a short list and now livers are allocated UK wide rather than just from local centres.
Often those waiting for the most common ( O ) livers wait longest as the lists of patients waiting for an O liver are huge and whilst yes there are more O liver donors - O livers can also be given to all other blood groups as O is the universal donor. So often those waiting for an O wait the longest.
Hope your call comes soon.

Hi John , I’m B negative and I received my liver transplant in September 2015, I had been on the list for about 10 weeks, I was told at the time that it’s a double edged sword, because there are not many people on the list with that blood group so if a liver became available I would most likely receive it but by the same reasoning there are not as many available, I was also told that they couldn’t give an estimate of waiting time but hoped within 2 years but as I say it was only 10 weeks wait, now approaching 3 years and still feels surreal at times, take care 🌸
