Hi everyone my name is Donna

My husband is waiting on his phone call for his transplant the transplant nurses have said don’t live in a bubble and carry on with life as best you can the thing is the consultant and the surgeon have told my husband and myself that he is very frail and needs his transplant ASAP everyone the phone rings I go into a panic thinking it is the transplant centre calling for my husband to come in I think everyone on here must feel the same I feel so worried about my husband as I can see him getting more ill as the days go on how long has it taken people on the list to get their phone call am I just stressing to much

Hi Laura thankyou for the response as you no the wait is horrible I feel that I have to try be strong so the kids keep positive and when our 8 year old grandson knows his grandad is poorly seeing him trying to help grandad makes me heartbroken but we will stay strong and hope to get that call real soon thankyou x

I really hope he gets that phone call very soon....waiting lists can be a long time but if they have said asap then he shouldnt be far off from his new liver and a new second chance at a happy life.. really wish him and u and all the family the very best xx

Hi Donna

I was incredibly ill before my transplant and in hospital when my new liver came through. I imagine the drs know what they are saying and he should get a call pretty soon. The wait is awful but hopefully it will come right in the end and he will be well soon. Thinking of you both

Hi Isabelle thankyou for response when you said you were very ill before your transplant did you sleep all the time and have no energy I forgot to say my husband also has H E even when he gets up to go to the other room after 5 minutes he is exhausted in the last few months he has gone from a very strong man to having no energy at all thanks

Really it depends on availability of donors and at what position you are on list,liver matching ect,I waited 5 months with nothing then got 3 calls in one month,unfortunatly they where not up to standard for transplant,I now dont need one as I have stabilised.

Really feel for you Donna I understand the term living in a bubble very well and it’s so true but i do believe it applies to those like myself who could go through daily life quite well compared to others who are unable to do so like your husband,if the consultants have said ASAP for transplant then he’s urgent and that will put him in the top bracket and it could be your next call but unfortunately there simply isn’t enough livers to go round so it could also be a while I wish you both the very best of luck

Hi Donna, it very much depends on blood group and availability - my husband got his transplant within 3 weeks of going on the list. There is a super urgent list for very very poorly patients that hopefully get their transplant within 48hrs too.

Have faith and trust in the medical staff and I hope that all will be well - your husband will not go on the end of the list, it is purely based on urgency of ‘need’ so good luck and I hope his call comes very soon

Hi Mez thanks for your response I have great faith in the docs and nurses to be honest I don’t think we would have got through the last few months if it wasn’t forrhem rhankyou x
