I am a 21 year-old with a very moderate BMI and work out for around 1 hour a day ranging from cardio to free weights. During college, i joined a fraternity and started drinking very heavily on the weekends, usually just Fridays, anywhere from 14-25 units each Friday, for around 3 years. Last december 2017 I started getting a very dull pain in the upper right quadrant of my abdomen. Since then, I have toned down the amount of drinking I do.
Now, for 6 months, I drink maybe once every two weeks, less than 10 units every time. Yet, I still have this dull pain in my abdomen and sometimes back which seems to be the worst 2-3 days after I drink. It is not serious enough that I have seen a doctor about it. Its not even really a pain, more like an awareness of its presence. Does this sound like I could potentially have liver problems, and should I see a doctor? ? I would like to enjoy a couple drinks on weekends once in a while, so I'm quite frustrated that I have toned down my drinking but am still experiencing this vague pain.

I would suggest you go and see a doctor for some tests, explain your concerns and be honest about your symptoms and drink history. Binge drinking in excessive amounts can cause liver issues (even in a very young person). Some people are more susceptible to liver issues than others and if you fall into that category you might suffer more ill effects from alcohol than other people.
