There are many elements in an LFT test. Which one of those do you refer to e.g. is it GGT?

Also, what does your doctor say about this 'high LFT'?

I would hazzard a guess it,s his GGT Paulio?. Hi Patrick, it is always a good idea to request a copy of your liver function test results ( L.F.T ) so you can refer back to them. Take care,

Sounds like GGT from those figures. It will keep coming down, but it's vital you don't 'pick up', no matter what life issues come your way. They say that after a year sober, the liver can repair itself substantially but obviously relative to how damaged it was when drinking stopped. I'm near 1 year 4 months sober, AA, and even after 6 months, my readings had gone down from 1750GGT to about 130. My closest younger sister died tragically over 2 months ago, but i was strong mentally re alcohol. Daily serenity prayer, exercise, good healthy diet, little sugar/salt, lots of water, lean protein, fruit/veg helps a lot. Alcohol cravings disappear marginally more each passing day - my experience - and the mind seems to get reprogrammed by repetitive behaviour of events that socially involve little or no contact with alcohol. Plus, i enjoy non alcohol events more each passing day. Our willpower at work maybe. I take it...one day. Good luck...

Patrick you do need to find out which of your values is so high. If it is ALT then it would indicate your liver is very inflammed. Figures into the thousands can arise in conditions like auto-immune hepatitis so doctors should be following this up to find out what is going on. You require more tests to ascertain WHY your LFT's are raised.

Thanks for your response. I went to my GP today and it's my ALT it's gone down slightly and is now 1290 so have to wait till I see my heptologist on Tues for more information as she is unsure as of why.
