Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt MP, will be live on Facebook alongside Royal Free Hospital transplant surgeon Bimbi Fernando at 3pm on Friday 2nd March to answer questions about organ donation. The session is taking place as the Government Consultation on organ donation in England enters its final few days.
There’s an opportunity to submit questions in advance. If you have a question you’d like to pose to the Secretary of State for Health, you can submit them here: r1.surveysandforms.com/4c3z...
I hope this doesn't turn in to a huge debate about 'opt out' being 'another' way of the government controlling what we do with our lives.....lol...I hope he can put himself across well and can explain how much it means to every single person affected by the transplant process....regardless of your role in it!
I just thought that I'd let you know that I have submitted a question which I hope will be asked and responded to. Here is what I've said:
"All us transplantees welcome this news, however, l have heard that the relatives of the deceased still have the final say on whether organs can be used or not. It's like a person who carries a donor card even now, in the event of that person dying. The relatives can still say no to the use of organs. There needs to be a change in the law as l think the wishes of the donor should be sacrosanct, honoured, and respected".
