Hi everyone,
I havenโt posted in a while so thought I would check in to see how you all are?
It been nearly 10 months since my transplant at the Royal Free has been recovering well. Went to clinic class week as noticed my side just above my scar was starting to pop out a couple of months ago. After examination, I have an incisional hernia ๐ฉ itโs at the stage where it is uncomfortable but not too painful at the moment. Agreed with my consultant I would keep an eye on it for now but if it gets bigger or causes pain, Iโm to bring my appointment closer (next appt is Feb 2018).
At the appt I need to see consultant and my original professor who carried out my transplant and he will decide about surgery. Consultant feels it will need operating on but he will have the final decision.
Iโm worried about it as I was told it is a big operation with a few days in hospital. You may remember, I was admitted to hospital whilst waiting for my transplant and yes, I know Iโve been through my transplant but I was so unwell and didnโt remember much about the lead up to it.
Would appreciate your feedback if anyone has had an incisional hernia about how to help it now, if you had the operation, how long is hospital and recovery etc?
I do wear a support belt and donโt lift anything heavy.
Remaining positive as my new liver is doing great, kidneys have returned to normal and Iโm feeling great (apart from my hernia).
Please read my next post - Iโm so proud of my achievements ๐
Love to you all
