High GGT and ALT Levels

Hi, I visited my GP today as I have developed itchy skin, it appears that my blood results from June 2016 should have alerted me to some issues with my liver however the GP sent a message via the GP receptionist saying things were normal. Having gone through my results today my ALT recorded at 96 and GGT 247 everything else fine so going for new blood tests tomorrow and will await a new result. I am pretty certain my results will be at least those from last year or probably higher, bit worried now as i feel I have wasted a year of improvement.

I have cut out from drinking completely and changing things in my diet which can only benefit me for the long term, but just wondering if these results from last year are reversible, my GP didn't really indicate to much but said cutting out alcohol was a good start. I'm not a heavy drinker but drank more than the recommended levels. Stopping shouldn't be too difficult as my health means more to me. Thanks in advance everyone.

Your GGT levels will go down with absolutely no alcohol, drink lots of water and some rest. Mine had a sudden spike to 375 and dropped back to normal levels after 3 weeks. Hope this helps. Good luck

HI if the repeat bloods come out the same you’ll probably be referred for an ultrasound. If alcohol is the cause then yes it can be reversed-can take a while though-depends how long you’ve been overdoing it. Any other symptoms other than itching? Pale stools etc?
