New and struggling

I'm struggling with pain under right ribs, light coloured stools off food and feel sick. Been to doctor today and had urgent bloods done. Waiting for a scan. Gp done urgent referral. He confirmed inflatation today. Feeling scared!

If you have got inflammation in your liver that's where your uncomfortable pain will be coming from. As for your other symptoms it sounds like you have high bilirubin but your blood results will tell the doctors more. Don't panic bilirubin can fluctuate and can settle hope you find the soon 😀

Hiya as Jojo said try not to worry, I had all those symptoms in January with Hepatitis and some as I was also yellow! Now all subsided, get the odd twinge, no idea why and seeing consultant again in November but scan went back to normal as did bloods, cause alcohol, haven't drunk since. They will look at the entire picture to include meds, alcohol intake, medical conditions etc.. hang in there, good on your gp for referring you, keep us posted..

I haven’t drunk in 16 months but have overdosed on paracetamol and other drugs recently. Feeling scared I’ve really screwed up.

How long ago? That's fab you stopped drinking 16 months ago that'll really help. Please try not to worry, hard to do I know and I understand feeling scared but the liver is a remarkable organ.

We all screw up well I did in past bad thing is I tried taking my life many overdoses20 as least self harm I understand and I wanna live now I be completely honest I been alcoholic bad and drug speed addict and crack but I beat them all and you will move on I'm terrified as being in touch with reality is scary and hope that by knowing this it may help you I'm here if you need me

It’s natural to feel scared but you’ve done the hardest and best thing by stopping drinking big heads up to you.try to relax and see what consultants say

Echo what Miche says :avoid google !! Any questions ask the specialists at hospital or pop a question on here and maybe someone can help but remember every one is different .

Gallstones. Your bile duct is blocked. Does it hurt especially after eating? Loss of appetite? Request an ultrasound and if you continue to experience them, request an ERCP. Or they might put you on ursodoil (sp??). But most likely gallstones.

Well done for cutting the juice out. If you hit problems with overdosing it sounds like you have been going through some rough times. Life can be very scary sometimes. It is important to seek help. Coming on this site is a step toward helping yourself, same as cutting out the alcohol. Do you get on well with your g.p. ? They may be worth talking to about your liver worries and maybe anything else that is getting you down.

Despite the cuts there are services that can help with lots of issues as long as you know what you are looking for. As said earlier watch the internet's, it can be scary and it is so easy to pick up incorrect information.
