Hey guys I recently got diagnosed with hepatitis B. I was devastated. Im 24 so the idea of having to live with it possibly all my life is very depressing. I got a fibroscan done a few days ago and it turned out a pretty unusual experience for the doctor. He couldn't use the M probe on me with any success, despite my being slim (borderline skinny). I don't believe I have too narrow intercoastal spaces. So he gave up on the M probe after a while and tried the XL probe, and it worked, producing a median value of 6.1 kpa. I'm concerned that by using an inappropriate probe, the fibrosan score might not reflect the true damage that i might have. Would the use of a XL probe in a non obese/fat patient, overestimate or underestimate the score? Or is it likely to be the same as that by the M probe? Anyone?

Hi,
We can't give medical advice on here and are encouraged to share specific test results.
I will say that they never use the standard probe on me and it hasn't affected my results.
