I take about 60mg/d of codeine. I divide the 30mg tablets in four pieces each so I can take them as needed.

I am not afraid of being/becoming addicted. I guess the doctor knows what he is doing. The drug helps me stay functional iin spite of joint and muscle pain.

Good luck,

P.

I was taking morphine initially after my liver transplant then oxycodone 40mg per day for several months on. Was going to stop after a couple of months but had to carry on for longer than I would have liked due to nerve pain on my left hand. One of the doctors touched a nerve when putting a cannula on my arm before the transplant. Tried Gabapentin but I may as well have been taking flour pills, didn't do a thing. I found oxycodone really helped with my sleep too. Whenever I'd stop taking it, my sleep pattern would be all over the place.

Oxycodone is good for pain relief but I could feel myself getting addicted to it. It's not like paracetamol that you take if and when required. Once you start taking an opiate, you can't stop when you feel like it. Also hated the feeling of being kind of spaced out while on it. On my last box I actually flushed 3/4 of the pills I had left.

Feel lucky I don't have any chronic pain that would need to be treated by those nasty pills again.
