Hi there! First, sorry about thegraftnot taking. I myself am waiting for the exact same procedure. Because my first liver transplant is failing they sayI will need a better liver to begin with. Can I ask if this is your first transplant! And how long were you in on the list? Your in theUK, is that right? I know the only do about ten of these procedures a year on the average. That's ten adults and and ten children.

Where is the cramping? If it's in the back that is normal as our rib cages are lifted up extremely high during surgery. Some people even get hairline fractures. I was and am still on a very low darling se of morphine.

I'm sure the quinine must be good for liver and kidneys. I'm guessing you have really good doctors. If your at Addenbrookes your at the premiere transplantenter in the nation, one of the best in the whole red. The survival rate is very high there. Not to mention Mr. Butler is there, and he is the best.

I'm blessed to have been invited to be on the clinical trial testing the new machine he developed and built to better hold organs.

Have you asked your consultants about it? When was your tx done?

I myself have HE hepatic enchalopothy and it has greatly diminished my quality of life.

Good luck! What is going to happen with the kidney? Are they going to try and find you a new one?

Cheering you on!

Kimberly

Hi Kimberley

Yes it was my first transplant and I feel lucky liver is ok I was on waiting list for three years and am now wondering whether to go for another kidney transplant otherwise I will have to stay on dialysis and the cramps. I have now spoken to my registrar who say I can try the quinine but should look out for side effects I hope you get new liver soon.
