Have Hepatitus C with F2 Blood test for liver damage. What would the treatment for this stage be for a cure. Would the liver return to normal numbers after medication ?
Hep C / Liver damage: Have Hepatitus C... - British Liver Trust
Hep C / Liver damage
Are you seeing a liver specialist and have they talked about the various treatment options?
It will depend on where you are and under which health board you are treated as to when they actually intervene with your Hep C.
It seems crazy but due to the cost of the new treatments some health boards won't treat until your liver reaches a certain amount of damage .......... it is MAD. Treat early and you won't sustain the longer term health issues, possible cirrhosis and need for transplant.
You won't believe this one but we had a member whose husband was never treated for Hep C before his liver transplant, he finally had a transplant albeit with many complications and then was told he'd have to wait until his new liver became cirrhotic before they treated his Hep C. What is the point??
Anyway if I were you I would push your medical team for the earliest possible intervention and if successfully treated you should be able to prevent your condition from worsening although that isn't guaranteed.
Wishing you all the best, Katie
In November Hep C showed up for me after giving blood. After scans and much waiting I have been given drugs..Harvoni 8 week course. So far, so good.....liver function tests came back as normal twice.. hepc viral load down to very low numbers.true test is 3 months after Harvoni finishes... Feel very fortunate to be treated!! Also eat clean, no booze, excersise and keep smiling! Wishing you well☺
