Hi folks. I'm in need of a bit of advice please...
I started azathoprine 50mg last Thur which is only a week... since Sunday I've been very soar all over. Feels like the way you do with a flu... I'm eating and drinking ok. Just so soar, even to touch. Xx
Maybe you should go see your doctor. Maybe you are just adjusting to new medication. I was on it pre transplant for AIH and am on it post transplant and I havnt had that problem but everybody's differentx
Thanks. Yes I've got weekly bloods tomorrow. So will try and get an appointment too..... I've not taken any pain relief in over a year... should I take some paracetamol? Thanks xx
I started Azathioprine the end of June last year after being diagnosed with AIH. They started me on 60 mg of Prednisone first, then a few weeks later added 50mg of Azathioprine. I never did feel sore but have experienced the easy to bleed and bruising problems on my arms; also, hair loss, although that has finally slowed down. I take lots of supplements now that I never took before: Vit E, Magnesium, Calcium, Vit D-3, Biotin and B complex. I make sure I eat a healthy anti-inflammatory diet, too. Gluten-free, hardly any sugar, no processed foods, no dairy, no soy, mostly stay away from Nightshade family and eat organic fruits and veggies. I don't know if this helps or not but I figure it doesn't hurt. I have also continued to work outside as a Permaculture gardener. I am now on 10 mg of Prednisone and 75mg of Azathioprine.
So glad your doing well. I too believe in looking after our bodies and using supplements. Also exercising! Just at the mainute it's tough with how soar I am. Feels kinda like a flu... Hopefully it will pass soon.. keep up the good work. Thanks xx
I did have some nausea symptoms when I first started taking Azathioprine. After reading posts on this forum, I started taking it after dinner in the evening. Took the Prednisone after breakfast. I felt a lot better after that small change.
We'd suggest you get in touch with the doctor/medical team who prescribed it for you just for reassurance/advice on whether this is ok. Everyone can react differently to new medications but for peace of mind it's worth checking.
Best wishes
Carol
