I take it you mean Alcohol Related Liver Disease by your ARLD? There are lots of figures involved in a set of liver function tests and dependent on what the 1200 represents in that tests might give a better idea as to what is going on - although none of us are medics or actually qualified to interpret results, this is best left to the experts in your wife's medical team. I am though assuming it is perhaps the ALT level (range sounds about right), ALT is an inflammation marker and if it is sitting at 1200 then your wife's liver is very inflamed at present and they will need to get this number down as the longer it remains so wildly out of range the more likely she is to suffer damage to the liver.
Is you wife able to or willing to tackle her alcohol use? She needs to really or she could very well go on to suffer permanent damage if her liver isn't already.
The British Liver Trust has an excellent page on Alcohol and its effect on the liver at:- britishlivertrust.org.uk/li...
Forarm yourself with the information and then you can ask the relevant questions and support your wife going forward.
All the best to you.
