Multifocal Hepatocellular carcinoma [ aka Hepatoma] (HCC) may be multiple HCCs of multicentric origin (MO) or intrahepatic metastases (IM) arising from a primary HCC. Scientific blurb available at:- csn.cancer.org/node/234671
In plain language many malignant tumors within the liver from the same main cancer or a main liver cancer plus other off shoot tumours (Intrahepatic Metastases) which have been seeded through the liver from the main cancer - probably via the multiple regenerating nodules, the liver cancer sounds like it is being seeded throughout the liver tissue.
Whilst we on the forum are happy to help and seek out information for posters, the questions regarding the actual clinical diagnosis do need to be discussed with the medical specialists involved in the patients case as we have only individual person experiences or gleaned knowledge to draw upon whereas the doctors have all the patients notes, scan reports and results and many years of medical expertise to lead their input. We can only give amateur advice / suggestions.
I hope the patient in this case is being supported at appointments to help make sense of all this no doubt terrifying med-speak.
Love to you all, Katie x
