Hi, I've just been diagnosed with Hep C, which I must have acquired in 1981. I am 56 years old. Apparently I have a fatty liver and a high viral load. I am meeting with my consultant on Wednesday. I don't know my geno type yet.

How long do you think it will be before I start treatment? Is it usually a speedy process?

Thanks

Hi spacetastic

It's taken me about a year to get on the treatment which I'll be starting end November beginning December but it may vary from person to person hospital ect!

I was a few months but they didn't go for usual treatment but new drug with old combination. This was due to low blood count. It took 6 months..no injections..pills morn and night. I kept working. It did the trick so don't despair😊

I am a nurse practitioner

Once we have all required labs that insurance company approves treatment can be fairly easy process

In US where I practice insurance companies are tough

Have to appeal many times to get tx

Don't get discouraged will happen

Dear Spacetastic

There is information on Hep C on our website which includes links to the latest NICE guidance on specific treatments for different genotypes (assuming you are in the UK) which may help you. Please see: britishlivertrust.org.uk/li...

Best wishes
