We now know Mike has a 2cm tumour that will be burned out. It will mean a 3 day stay at St. James's Hospital. Then time in recovery. Anyone had this operation please?
Thank you.

2cm is just about on the limit for a surgical resection. Have the docs explained why they are going for ablation instead?
I had ablation last year. I was discharged the next day. Mine was done under a general and took about 4 hours as it was in a difficult place to reach.
RFA is usually quite successful. The spot I had ablated hasn't come back.
If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them.
How large was your tumor? They are about to ablate mine, its encapsulated. Thank you.
It's my husband who has NASH. His tumour is 2cm. It's going to be up to 6 weeks wait for his ablation. I wish you every success with yours. Best wishes, Christine
I Have had the chemo embolation it is similar to the radiation ablation it is done while you are awake you feel the injection of lydocain and a little pressure when they insert the catheter but you feel like you are part of the team I stayed one day in the hospital and experience shoulder pain from the liver invasion and slight nausea from the chemo I am scheduling the radioactive embolation next with the intension of stopping growth of my tumors.. this will make me qualify for a transplant.. which to me is unsettling but necessary... these procedures are quite tolerable ...trust your doctor and Godspeed....
Hi, thanks for replying and sorry to hear you're going through treatment as well. My husband has been told he'll be in hospital 3 days and will have full anaesthetic? I guess we'll have to wait and see. Good luck with your treatments and getting the transplant, your right about how unsettling things can be. Wish you all the very best.
Christine
