Fat legs & feet.

Hi all,

This is the latest. Terry had 2 stomach drains ready for the CPET test. The guys doing the test said he managed to reach their target but I've no idea how. His feet & legs are so swollen that he can hardly bend his knees. He's been home since Wednesday & is pretty good at the moment. However I do know he's fed up of being in PJ's & slippers. I have managed to get some wide legged Trackie Bottoms (2 sizes larger than usual) but I'm struggling with footwear. I think if he could go for short walks in the fresh air it would be good for him. Anyone know any solutions to the footwear problem ?

Hope everyone is keeping as well as possible.

Thanks Mal.xx

Great news that Terry got through the CPET test - hopefully that was the last hurdle before they'll go ahead and get him on the transplant list.  Short walks will be ideal to help keep his spirits up and his heart and lungs healthy in the run up to transplant.

I had a quick look online for 'footwear for oedema' and found this site :- widerfitshoes.co.uk/pu+foot...

The 'styles' are anything but flattering but if they fit and get him on his feet abit I am sure you will both get by a period of non-fashionability.

Wishing you both all the best as always.

And another site also offering wider fit shoes for medical problems @

bournemouthfootwear.co.uk/o...

They seem to have different 'styles'

Hey, you are most welcome, was just on line when your message popped up and I just thought i'd have a look at what options are out there.

Found another site just now who do extra, extra wide and seem to have a more attractive range of styles plus videos on measuring the feet before ordering.

Hope you get something sorted so Terry can get out and about.

Would Crocs sandles\shoes be of any help? They are light and breathable!

I don't know the website, I'm sorry.

Hope you find some for him.

Take care

I can't post a picture but the people I work with who have extreme oedema in feet and legs get velcro fastening boots via their district nurses. I think they are what the NHS provide for people in plaster following a fracture.

My lower legs, ankles & feet swell up a lot.  I have to wear Crocs from Amazon.co.uk in house. They even fit me with my ankle braces on!

Same company sell men's sizes so look for those on there.
