Signed up for both, started the 'Looking after your liver' course last time round but never got it completed. Hospital appointments got in the way. Going to do both this time.

Katie :)

just completing the looking after your liver (last week) and will sign up for the transplant course - these are well worth it if you are interested in your liver (which I gather we all are!!!)

Yes I just finished it to. Very interesting. The biggest take away for me was the machine that keeps the liver going so that it can be kept going out of the body ready for transplant. They are relatively new, and were mentioned when I went to kings for my transplant. But I had no idea they could be used to recondition a sub standard liver. Absolutely amazing.

I have to complete week 3 yet! this sounds most interesting as my new liver was damaged inbetween donor and my body, such that I will be relisted in the future for a retransplant due to Ischemic Cholangiopathy (damage to bile ducts due to lack of profusion which is what I imagine the machine you are talking about does! ) looking forward to completing!

Well interestingly there are two machines the Organox Metra device which is a portable device to transport the liver and the Liver Assist device which sits in the theatre and is used to warm up a cooled liver.

The Organ Assist is the one that can recondition the liver!
