a complete shock to me, was having episodes of really severe chest pain so went to Drs. thinking it was heart disease, came home dazed, i hadn't took in any information after he said lumps, along with loads of other people my only thought was that i had cancer, I got back in touch and was told the're cysts, I have not been given medication or any follow up appointment, just told it would help to lose weight I have atrial fibrillation, arthritis and asthma am 75 years old and scared, I would like to know is this just a minor disease and what should i be asking my doctor. thank for reading this and any help. Katyjane
following a scan was diagnosed with fa... - British Liver Trust
following a scan was diagnosed with fatty liver disease, with cysts on liver and kidney, been lifelong T Total, but am grossly overweight.
Hi katyjane first if your worried book an appointment to see your doctor to ease your mind. Second being overweight does cause fatty liver and if you change your diet and do some light exercise and lose a little (go dancing) you will prevent any further damage to your liver there is no medication that doctor can give you to repair your liver it's all about prevention now. My liver is severely damaged and there is nothing they can give me and I am feeling better as I don't drink and have changed my diet. So don't worry just do what you can but defo book that appointment to back this up
thank you jojokarak i feel better just to be able to talk with someone knows, i have been on the internet sites to see what i should be eating , the trouble is i am taking in so much information I'm remembering nothing, i gather a low carb diet is advisable, so far i have cut out as much fat as i can and eating what to me is healthy ie.salads and white meat, boring but i know it is right, the trouble is the food has been my life, i don't drink, smoke, go on holidays (pets) or play bingo etc. as soon as i wake up I'm wondering what we will be eating that day, I have joined the gym and done some aquasize classes and swimming,. can't do much because arthritis. I am going on the net now to find low carb diets to see if the food can be made more interesting, so sorry your liver so bad bless you, i don't know the severity of mine, I have a sneaky feeling Dr. was running late and no time to talk. Thank you again, please keep in touch
Hiya and no problem. And your making a start that's all that matters swimming is a really good exercise for arthritis plus it works all your muscles. And I was told by my dietician the trick to diets is just healthy eating eat little but often so you never feel hungry and its better for your liver glad you feel much better

hello brummi, thank you for your support, will try not to stress but have only just been diagnosed so i suppose once i get used to the idea i will settle down, having read some of the other posts i feel a bit stupid anyway, god knows how they manage, once again thank you
Hi, plse don't feel 'stupid'. We've all been there. It's very difficult in the early days when we have so many questions & want to know the answers!!! Keep a list of questions & when u see Dr. go through them. I've found this site is very good for advise & support. Take care & try not to worry
