I have been advised to change my diet and not drink alcohol. I am struggling with both (and yes I need to try harder), although I did not have any alcohol for nearly a month, as I did not socialise, I did have 3 glasses of cider last night with friends. I know I will improve on this slip up. Can anyone please advise on a diet as all I was informed by the gp was to avoid beef, ham & pork but that beetroot was very good !! I always seem to end up eating salads. Thank you.

Hi I agree with Bolly - a very odd list of foods to avoid. It does not tie in with the advice I have been given by a liver specialist. I think the message is to be a healthy weight, get plenty of 'normal' exercise (walking, swimming etc - no neeed to join a gym), eat a normal lealthy diet, and reduce any alcohol as much as possible. Most GP's are not liver specialists by any stretch of the imagination, but the information on the British Liver Trust web page is reliable
