I was diagnosed with ALD and cirrohsis in April. Now I have been asked to go for a fasting blood test as my blood results are showing signs of diabetes.

Is this common?

The answer here is yes.

Any problems relating to malfunction of the liver, in turn relate to problems within the whole billiary system, which includes the Pancreas, which is responsible for the insulin production.

Hope you dont mind my asking but what age are you and how where you dagnosed with ALD? You really have a lot to cope with. I know one man who has had a liver transplant and as far as I know he developed diabetes through cirrhosis. I hope you dont but even if you do it is a very manageable disease and there are lots of good meds out there to control it. All the best. Bfn.
