Has anyone got Non Steato-Hepatitis and gets pain in the upper torso on the right side, with tiredness and chills?

I am a non smoker and have never drank alcohol, however, from around 1999 I have had this awful pain, in the upper right side of my torso radiating toward the back. The pain itself ranges from constant dull ache to sometimes throbbing and the area feels inflamed - hot to the touch. In 2006 I was diagnosed with non-steatohepatitis but have had next to no information about it. What I know for sure is that it is very tiring when it 'plays-up' and very painful to boot, I feel completely listless and lethargic. The pain can very suddenly get worse and takes my breath away. I have palpitations, with dizzy spells and get really cold! Why is this so? Are there other people out there in similar situation??!

Hi Jammy. Get yourself down to the docs asap and get them to refer you to a liver specialist. They should have all the info you need. And don't stop asking questions, be persistant. Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying and since reading your response, I have arranged to be seen at the doc's and will be better armed than I have ever been before to ask questions and get the answers I need in order to help myself. Cheers.

Hiya, i too was a non smoker and non drinker and have been recently diagnosed as having NASH. I was referred to the hepatology dept of the hospital for a liver biopsy to see how damaged my liver was. It turns out i am stage 2 which means i have inflammation in the liver. I have to lose weight and was told to take vitamin E and shall have another LFT in 4 months time. Have you spoken to your doctor about seeing a hepatologist to see what is the next step. My liver problem is related to me carrying the Alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency gene. Get yourself checked out properly by a hepatologist would be my advice so at least you know exactly what you are dealing with. Good luck

I have Nash. For no apparent reason. How did you find out about the gene deficiency ?

Thank you so much for replying and the information is really useful, I hope that you are not in pain. I have scheduled an appointment with GP and nobody has ever mentioned a liver biopsy! I will be asking for one and reasons as to why I have this NASH. Any ideas to combat or aid the pain? I am 74kilos and find it really difficult to lose weight but I walk every day, I attend exercise classes 3 times a week for 1 hour but haven't really shifted anything! I must admit I am a bit of a mess in the health department!!
