I do love the frosty mornings but as many have shared, it does mean we have to seek out safe, ice-free running routes - or do our running at the gym instead.
Today I wanted to focus on my βspeedβ (or lack of!) so decided that the best plan would be to head for the local sports fields and do some diagonal intervals as part of my run. The local pavements were frosty but mostly dry, although there were a few icy patches to avoid. Footwear makes a difference doesnβt it, and I have noticed that the soles of my trail shoes (Hoka Speedgoats) are much more βstickyβ than those of my Hoka Cliftonβs.
On to the recreation grounds and actually, this run was harder than I expected. The playing fields were mostly frozen hard and so felt hard and rutted to run onβ¦never mind, at least they werenβt slippy!
8 diagonals duly done (they felt like hard work on my legs today) before my cool down run.
Back home and now feeling glad that I braved the cold. Happy Friday everyone!ππββοΈ
