I do love the frosty mornings but as many have shared, it does mean we have to seek out safe, ice-free running routes - or do our running at the gym instead.

Today I wanted to focus on my β€œspeed” (or lack of!) so decided that the best plan would be to head for the local sports fields and do some diagonal intervals as part of my run. The local pavements were frosty but mostly dry, although there were a few icy patches to avoid. Footwear makes a difference doesn’t it, and I have noticed that the soles of my trail shoes (Hoka Speedgoats) are much more β€˜sticky’ than those of my Hoka Clifton’s.

On to the recreation grounds and actually, this run was harder than I expected. The playing fields were mostly frozen hard and so felt hard and rutted to run on…never mind, at least they weren’t slippy!

8 diagonals duly done (they felt like hard work on my legs today) before my cool down run.

Back home and now feeling glad that I braved the cold. Happy Friday everyone!πŸ™‚πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

🍏 The innovative ways we run to stay safe! Well done Sandra. Not many of us braving the outdoors this week & over on couch we are a mini A& E 🀣

Where there’s a will, there’s (usually) away!

Here’s hoping that we see the back of the worst of the ice soon and can all get back out there safely. πŸ’™ I have been lucky where I live, not to have it as bad as many others.

Well done, it's always hard to get out when it's so cold and ice on the paths, you cracked it though 😁

Ooh, well done! I too gravitate to grass when it's icy, but you're right about the ruts. Compact gravel paths are my favourite if I can find any that haven't got too wet and turned into skating rinks! That speed run in icy weather banks you lots of brownie points πŸ˜ƒ
