Good afternoon you lovely runners…BIG apologies for the late quest post…I seem to be having some kind of glitch with notifications but I’m on it!!! (There’s my first quest!!!)
Thank you to Yesletsgo for hosting the quest last month, she did a marvellous job 😉
So, if any of you saw my question of the week last week about staying motivated when you’re not feeling it, well I managed to get out on Tuesday…I hoped for Thursday too but that didn’t happen but I’m feeling more positive , so here on this forum there’s ooodles of motivational posts and comments on here to keep us going…so, we can put all this into practice by sharing our quests for this month & spurring each other on….
It’s my birthday tomorrow so there’ll be cake involved so I will be running on cake next week..what could possibly go wrong??!! 🤣🤣🤣
In case you haven’t taken part in the Quest before, here’s what you need to know…
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
Some popular goals are:
🌼🌺To run three times a week
🌼🌺To slowly increase distance
🌼🌺To train for a specific race
🌼🌺To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine
You need to be a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is COMMENT BELOW with something like:
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............
Soooooo...let us know your progress and we'll encourage, congratulate and sympathise!
LETS DO THIS!!!

Just to tell you Mummycav that I bought a bran new Smartphone this morning, my older Smartphone which still works I have had for almost six years was behaving erratically, tapping wrong apps, freezing often and cutting out when replying to anyone, the new phone is great with no problems whatsoever.
Well, it could be that AlMorr …I’m going to check my settings…do you remember when we had the app? I thought that worked perfectly, why did they scrap it?
The Healthunlock app had been going on for a while, not sure why they scrapped it but maybe it was because most people didn't use it and like me used Healthunlocked e mail instead.
You are now the 3rd person I know with that birthday and I hope you all have good ones!
My Quest goals for August are going to be very much about maintaining a holding pattern.
1) Continuing with my 5k British wildlife medal runs - this month is a lovely beetle. The tweak for this month is to get this run in the bag in the first half of the month and to build on last month's progress and get at least 3 other runs in over the month.
2) Average 10 brisk minutes a day (as measured by that cruel mistress the Active 10 app) over the month
3) Continue with the Squeezy pelvic floor exercise app that I started midway through last month
4) Do 31+ Ekhart yoga sessions. This month I am aiming for a pick and mix rather than completing a programme as such.
5) Enjoy a little bit of calm and self-congratulation. A miracle has come to pass and my younger son (more diagnoses than qualifications) is going to university in September. I shall need to help him make more miracles in order for him to stay the course and graduate but this is a refuelling stop in this ultramarathon.
Happy birthday for tomorrow Mummycav running on cake 🎂 nothing will go wrong at all 😂😂🥰🙋♀️x
So for me my quest will be…..
Try to run more than once 🤞
Run for longer.🤞
Stay positive.😀
Stay motivated.😀
Well I did manage to run and walk back home yesterday morning after my visit to the dentist for my check up which went very well . Hubby drove me down to the next village as I didn’t want to run down there and get all sweaty before my visit ….heavens that would never do! After leaving the dentist’s I ran and walked back home it was all about the inclines and it definitely was very hot🥵.
So I’m thinking maybe this is a positive start to my August quest and hopefully the motivation will carry on through 🤣🤣🤣
Happy birthday for tomorrow Mummycav 🎂🎂🎂🎁🎁🎁 enjoy the cake!
Looks like we've got another couple of weeks of warm weather ahead, though not as hot as it has been, we'll see. The heat knocks me out so my Quest goals for this month are:
- consistency, aiming for about 3 runs a week
- keep my speed and heartrate down when I run
- run as far as feels good, ignore the numbers as much as I can but gradually increase the ground I cover on the days when I feel like it
So basically simple, achievable goals, it's too hot for me to push things any harder than this. Come the cold weather I can step it up a gear!
Thank you Yesletsgo …the heat is so hard to run in I agree which is why, when I do get out, early morning is best…all we can do is our best and your goals sound perfect
🍏🥳 Happy Happy Birthday 🎈 to you and Mojo! Double celebration! 🙌 Love your motivational photo!! Exactly right for me at the moment!!! Thanks for hosting!
My quest
🍏Keep up with my GP’s exercise regime for vertigo which is stringent but necessary
🍏 Go for Gold in CBDB walking challenge on the Active Ten App
🍏 Start back on some gentle low key stretches that won’t exacerbate the vertigo
Oh Annieapple ..I am just so happy to see you here!! It’s truly made my day 💕💕 whatever you do for quest I know you won’t push yourself and will take it steady, literally one step at a time…
Yes, my mojo turned up this morning so I jumped out of bed and snook out before he disappeared off again!! 🤣🏃♀️
Happy birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🍾 🍺 super Mummycav We hope you have a lovely restful day (especially as you've run already ✅).
My quest will be to continue to do a little bit of strength work every day throughout August. I'm hoping I'll feel the benefit as the days turn into weeks 🙌😊
Well I didn't think I'd be back here...practically at square one again! I had a really bad ankle injury (tear) just before Easter that I'm slowly recovering from. Sadly, setback and restarts seem to be the story of my running career!
So in August I restart the C25K programme, with some adjustments from my physio who at least on the plus side seems to think I should be able to build up again just fine.
I have long term ambitions of running a trail race next summer, so a year of recovery and foundation building will hopefully put me in a good place for that.
Ouch…that sounds nasty…don’t worry about being back here!! The more the merrier!!! I am sure, over the next 12 months you will be back to full strength and that trail race will be yours
Hia and happy birthday!!! What a nice time! Enjoy the cake!
Well, I was doing so well!! Lots of runs and lots of rows, with a grand finale of participating in a Rowlympics challenge on Friday.
And Friday pm I started feeling unwell.
So now I have been bedridden for the whole of Saturday with Covid, with still a rather long slog of recuperating to come.
Such a bummer! I was planning to do some running tourism, as I’d be away at a conference. Cancelled. Hubby, sun and I had planned a short break at the sea afterwards, also with some runs. All cancelled.
I cannot believe it. The one time we manage to plan a family break this year, and Covid hits!
I feel still quite unwell, so my goal for the next two weeks will simply be to get back to feeling healthy and fit again.
Ohhh, so sorry to hear that CBDB ..I’m afraid Covid is going to be one of those things…my best friend has it at the moment, I think I’m one of the only people in the country who hasn’t had it!!! Lucky me (touching wood!!!)
I’m sure with some rest you’ll be back up and out there regularly pretty soon x
