My first international ParkRun, in Woy Woy New South Wales. Alongside beautiful Brisbane Water. It starts at 8 am presumably to avoid the heat.
So much was familiar: the same buzz around the starting area; the usual instructions; call outs for tourists and newbies.
Many more walkers than I see in the UK, but with my legs still stiff from the flight I was glad to jog along with them.
How great not to be running in the cold and rain!

Thank you, RunWillie. It’s been too long (10 years) since I was last here.

Hi Heavy foot,
I did two in April 2022, Mitchelton and Ashgrove, Brisbane. I was 76 then. Wonderful welcoming Community and great atmosphere, both these started at 7am , as you say , before the heat! Enjoy your stay!!

Congrats! I did my first Aussie parkrun the day after arriving too, in Sydney in October. As you say, great welcome and comfortingly familiar

The day after!! I’ve been here a week now and the legs are only unstiffening. Think Woody from Toy Story!

It wasn’t fast and it wasn’t pretty, but I’d been awake since 4am, so I thought I might as well 😂
