Scary Restart to half marathon plan!

I had pains in my legs following my 13k run in mid December, so for the past 6 weeks I have stuck to fairky easy 5k and 10k runs and have been working on strength and flex. I always run by myself.

However, tomorrow, I have been invited to go on a 12k run with a group of ladies I haven't met, who are all faster than me (I assume) and in an area I've never run before!

I'm feeling really really nervous, but determined that I'm not going to chicken out! I am definitely going to go! Wish me luck! 🀞

I do wish you luck Cantstopmenow, I like the way you say that that you have stuck to fairly easy 5 and 10K runs, ha, there are a few here that may not think the same about these runs, especially the 10K.πŸ€”

As far as running that 12K with those runners tomorrow, they may not all be faster runners than you. I suppose one way to find out is tell them your average and PB 10K time, that way you should know roughly what pace to run at, good luck and report back on this forum on how you got on. 😊 πŸƒπŸΎ

Thank you AlMorr. When I say fairly easy I guess I mean that I haven't pushed the pace and i have chosen fairly flat routes. I haven't necessarily found it easy to run the distance 😊

Thank you. Reading about your successes and yourpace has helped me keep going (as well as the winter running gear you recommended) 😊

Was it the long sleeve running tops you bought😊

I got the winter leggings. They are so warm - just the job. I dont think I could get the top in my size. I was going to buy the gloves you recommnded but then I bought some in the Lake district.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I hope you will be recommending summer running gear. πŸ˜‚ Actually, I quite like running in the cold, as long as it's not icy!

You’ll have a blast CSMN, and I bet you’ll surprise yourself. Have fun, and please report back with how you get on! πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘

I can see where you're coming from CSMN and I think I'd be nervous too...but you're right to give it a go.

They may not be faster than you anyway, but if they are you can always tell them to go on ahead.

And with all the recent work you've put in it will be good to see if it's paid off and your legs are ready to tackle 12k again.

Hope it goes well πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Exactly. I'm out of my comfort zone, but I'd be annoyed with myself if I didn't try! Thank you 😊

Hi. Let us know how u get on. You'll do great! Sounds like Yr doing great with runs and strengthening. Have fun. Last a year a friend of mine at work...well we got to be pals after talking about running! Invited me out and I was excited and nervous as never ran with others either... But it was great. You'll pick up good advice and have a good chat, 😊
