What are YOU up to?
I went out a 5.30, as it was only 26 degrees then, with every intention of doing 4 k but did 6. so much for a plan!
Not a lot as today is a rest day, so mostly just lurking on the forum and spreading whatever encouragement I can...
Been pulling out rampant wild strawberries, giving the foot an extra rest day to be on the safe side
Katnap and I are going out for a little run after weβve got youngest kittenβs new school blazer. Feeling a little rusty after 5 days of fine music, camping, curry & beer so need to blow some cobwebs off and get back to it!
Enjoy the run.
I was up and out at 5:15 am to run my 10K (still consolidating). It went well, but now feel exhausted at work. Not good!
Need to rethink the timings of this, especially as itβs now dark when I start.
I'm being lazy, still haven't been out, it's our last day if holiday. I will get out at some point I'm sure. Dogs are walked however, so I'm not THAT lazy βΊ
A rest day for me after a nice intervals 4k yesterday, but Iβve just got back from an hour of Pilates at my gym. All ready for a longer run this week. It will probably need to be early now itβs warming up again.
Just back from a walk on my rest day π
I've just done my normal short run - 3.5k - to test my late birthday present. I'm now the proud owner of a Forerunner 235 and I love it already! (My birthday was in March, by the way...!) π
Oooh so jealous . I have a forerunner 30 and would love a 235 π
Hi Roseabi, I went out for my HM training run at 11:00.πββοΈ I managed 14.5K which wasnβt as far as I wantedπReally should have hydrated more as I ran out of steam at 14K. Not to worry, itβs another run under my belt!ππ
Looking forward to running this evening and seeing if I can realistically hope to crack next months HM
It is much better. I'm hoping to get out later, after work...π€π»
Hi .5k today, sticking to 5k,s until autumn, find it much harder to run in sun/heat. Will have a second go to get back to 10k October .π
Work out day..with small runner in training.. 10 hours..lifting... stretching... walking...etc etc...and the same tomorrow.oh...that is including cross country walking..
A run on Thursday sounds like bliss!ππ
Tried to help some deer out of the garden. Failed, oneβs still there. Need hubby to help open the top gate. π¦π¦
Walked my dog, forgot to stop the Garmin so it recorded my drive to Sainsburyβs too! ππ
Downloaded a lovely 1981 playlist (thanks for the inspiration Jell6 !) and will test it out on Thursday morning. Light running week for me as I have the Severn Bridge 10k this Sunday, so just ran 5k yesterday, will do another shorty on Thursday and Iβm volunteering at PR on Saturday. My running week is planned! πββοΈπ
Thatβs outrageous, CC! Driving to Sainsburyβs does NOT count as part of your training!
Hope the π¦ are OK. They are my new favourite animal.
Severn Bridge 10K sounds fun. Looking forward to reading your report on that.
Darn, Iβve been grassed! Okayyyy, I wonβt cheat in the car again Steve! π π
Yes hubby succeeded in getting the gate open and the deer legged it into the back field. His buddy had already leaped over the hedge! π¦π¦
Iβll definitely report back on the race - Iβm hoping the forecast of 25 degrees and sunny doesnβt materialise π©π³π₯΅πββοΈ
Waiting for husband to come home so he can look after the kids. Then Iβll be off for a 5k π
I went out at about 6.15, only for a short trot as I was starting back at my old job this morning at 8.00- just part time though now- so just ran 3k and back home for shower and breakfast. Bit of a shock to the system having to go to work for the morning though after 16 months of retirement.
Donβt know how long it will last. ....
Had a relaxing game of crown green bowling with my 80yr neighbour. Convinced he is training me up to join the over 60s team, but have 8 years to qualify yet π
Heading to my club run at 7 for βLong Hillsβ ππ©
Yesterday walked 18.5km of Dorset countryside followed by a rather challenging 13km today along the coastal path Lulworth Cove Durdle Door and beyond. The knee held up on the very steep terrain and no signs of the pf returning so back to running Thurs eve πππ feels like it's been forever π± I'll just do some short ones to start ready for the start of the Magic plan on Monday
Whoop whoop ππππππ
Went for a lunchtime run. Changed my clothes as the sun shone. Stepped out into a downpour. Not changing again so off I went for 7km splashing through puddles. Spent the afternoon in wet knickers (had a change for the rest) and trying to dry running gear on cold radiators. Pleased with my damp self π
Well done! I know that damp feeling, and I don't like it πππ
Went out at 6.30am for a 6k 'fast' run with doggie. The rest of the day spent with Mum on a lovely steam train ride π π.
Just a pooch walk today, but it's the first time I've managed a walk since the injury. Dogs cheer me up.. Have you ever seen anything more excited to be outdoors!? They don't get bored of the same routes. Doesn't matter how many times a dog goes into a park, they act like it's the first time they've ever seen one. Sheer joy. You can learn a lot from a dog.
I'm struggling, went out yesterday did 7 mins run and gave up, I felt awful and everything felt heavy and stiff.
Went out today 30 minutes run and 4.1 km , feel so much better now.
10k feels unachievable at the moment but will start programme again at the end of month.
I just went for a short walk with the dog yesterday, as he has had a poorly paw and has just started putting his weight on it again, so wanted to check it out. Been for a 6k run this morning!
Is that you in the photo Abi? You look fantastic - even in the rain
I am 2 runs away from completing Ju-Ju's Magic running plan, only a month later than planned but visiting family and family visiting me took over for a bit. I ran my fastest 4k this morning in 30.24, which I was pleased with. I have managed to be slightly faster on all my runs apart from an 8k, so it is all encouraging. For a 66 year old I pleased with that. Which order to do the last 5k and ultimately 10k in? All should be complete by Sunday. All your posts have been so encouraging over the past year and 5 months to a completely newbie to running. I can't wait to read your news every morning. Thank you.
Thank you roseabi. I am certainly enjoying the journey! I think it will be 5k followed by 10k as I am playing for a couple of weddings on Friday and Saturday, all of which take up a lot of time. I play in a string quartet for these. Also a lot of fun.
I play both violin and viola. On Friday it will be viola and Saturday violin, so it rings the changes.
Awesome! xx
Hi, I did my 5k on Friday and headed out for the 10k on Sunday. Very disappointingly just before 3k metatarsalgia kicked and it became impossible to run. However I did walk for the remainder of the 10k. I probably shouldn't have done that but was frustrated with it I wanted to prove a point to myself. I guess it will be 2 to 3 weeks off and maybe new shoes? I have Nike Pegasus since last December, which I was told would last about a year. Also I wonder if my socks were too thick? They are more miles New York running socks and fairly new.
Gutted but enjoyed all so far. Will report back when I finally do a proper 10k run. Meanwhile, Happy Running everyone.
Very wide toe boxes and extra room between the ends of the toes and the shoe are helpful for this. Go up half a size or perhaps even more. Google "wide toe box running shoes", but the main brand you will likely find is Altra. They can be a bit tricky to get used to as they have a zero drop, but you can find shoes by many brands that have wider toe boxes. You might also consider using toe socks - Injinji are the main brand for those, but there are others. Good luck!! xx
Chilling out for a bit, in preparation for a slow shuffle to the end of the ward! Go me, go! ππππ
