Very sad

I hope this finds you all well. I haven't run for several weeks now due to a nasty injury at the base of my back that meets the little recess dimple area just up from your bottom. Physio said it could be a slight muscle tear or really overworked an area of muscle which hasn't been really used in years. I think now that I was giving the running everything I had in me and was physically shattered at the end of my runs. I've been told that my hip flexes are taking the brunt of the running and my inner glute area needs to be trained to fire up. I did 3 mins! running two days ago to see where I was at and the pain was pretty much instant and is only now settling down. I'm really sad that I've put so much into my love of running that I just can't do it for the foreseeable future. Has anyone else experienced this kind of injury. Sorry for the long post folks x

Sorry CB I have no advice but just wanted to say Hi and wish you well in your recovery. You are doing the right thing seeking proper medical advice and guidance. That’s so important for recovery. Rest well and as Oldfloss said to me , Stay Bright. Running will be there for us when our bodies are fit and ready to return.

So sorry to hear about your injury carlos. I haven’t had the same as you but have been on the IC for other things in the past . All I can say is well done for getting expert advice so you can get the right exercises in. Try and walk instead if the injury allows it, and as Wimborne says, the runs will still be there when your body is ready.

Take it slowly

Awww CB, what a shame. I have nothing useful to add, except we’ll be here waiting for your return, however long it takes, and don’t forget to pop on here with updates as to how your recovery is going. I’m sure with proper rehab advice you’ll be able to run again some day. We’re all rooting for you. ❤️

Take care. 😀

I have no experience of anything similar so no advice to give, but have you got some excercises to be strengthening the relevant parts? Rest, eat sensibly and maybe buy a cello? That kept me amused while I was on the injury couch, although a penny whistle is cheaper and takes up less room! Get well soon.💐

Many of us have been out of action, and on the bench due to various injuries.

Listen to your physio, listen to your body. The runs will wait for you.

Take care, be patient 🤗

So sorry to read this, and no I haven't had the same injury. I've been on on the IC though, and this forum was a big help, just keeping me sane! I did have lower back problems before I started running, which is why I now do Pilates regularly, as it's such a good way of strengthening up all those core muscles. (It will help you find that pesky inner glute for a start.) This really helped me when I took up running. BUT, only when your physio or whoever you're seeing thinks you are ready. In the meantime, do whatever exercise you can that you are being advised to do, and if you don't fancy a cello, how about art classes? Or join a choir, that's fun, and good for the lungs :) And you can always come on here for chat, I know how sad you must be feeling. We'll try and cheer you up :)

Oh dear. 😨 Not the same injury, but I’ve got pulled muscle from gardening and so no running for the last month while I see chiropractor and do exercises to strengthen assorted bits! So I really, really feel for you. It’s grim, isn’t it? 😱 Plus, not much fun to be on the receiving end of the “be patient” advice, even tho’ we absolutely know it’s right! 😂 Not sure that kind of patience is characteristic of newish runner addicts.

Hang in there and ask advice about what you can do instead. I’ve just been told it’s ok to dust off my bike.... 😊

Best of recovery wishes!
