This sounds really strange but I get incredibly sore shoulders after running that keeps me awake at night. Any ideas?

Are you tensing your shoulders and neck up when you run? Some suggestions:
1. Make sure you have warmed up your shoulders / arms before you start (rotate vertically forwards and backwards like in front crawl and backstroke, rotate horizontally like in a golf swing).
2. Try to consciously keep your posture as upright as possible but with your shoulders down and relaxed.
3. Stretch them out after you have finished.
4. Invest in a foam roller and pressure point ball.
I use the headspace guided runs on Nike run club. They remind me to relax my shoulders and posture. Good luck
