Is it OK to plan to run with as little hills as possible once a week. I always try to do as many hills as I can but Ive to run at night sometimes and intended going round local town which is well lit and is flat enough. My gremlins say I'm cheating myself lol

Right, where’s your town? 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

You’re doing fabulously, especially as you’ve been doing so many hills! Not cheating at all having a nice flat route to use too! 👍🏃👏

Yes. If you lived where I live you’d be on the flat a lot more often! More than OK, it’s probably a very good idea to have a long flat run now and again. Variety doesn’t only make it more interesting, apparently it works a wider range of muscles too. Conversely I want to start put some hills into my runs maybe once a week or once a fortnight. Probably in the new year when I will shed some commitments and therefore have a wee bit more choice about when and where I run.

When I say no hills there is slight change in places but nothing like what I've been doing or used too. Thanks for all. The reply tho.

I started out trying to run hills, but I was too heavy and there was a lot of pressure on my knees, calves and plantar. I kept getting injured, so I swore of hills until I had lost some weight. Now I like to get stuck in to hills, but also love to get a rhythm going on the flat. Like the wise ones above have said "variety is..."😊

I'm only just trying small hills.... And still try to avoid if possible!!

Of course! There is no law saying "Thou shalt only run hills"! Enjoy!🙂

Go for it! Many runners looking for pbs over a certain distance use a flatter route to help achieve it.........

I'm sorry you'll have to explain what a flat route is. I live in Sheffield which is officially the hilliest city in the UK..... 😂😂
