Everolimus
My mom is taking everolimus for metastatic BC spread to bones. Is there a fixed number of cycles or should it be continued for as long as it works?
Thanks in advance

Hi Chaya, while i hv no personal experience with everolimus during my mother's treatment, but found the following link from cancer research UK, as per this it should be taken as long as it continues to work and should be taken around the same time every day.
Dear Chaya,
You mother seems to have progressed on Hormone Therapy (usually) Aromatase Inhibitor ( like Letrozole / Anastrazole). She has been initiated on Everolimus along with Exemestane if i m correct so as to overcome the hormone resistance which the cancer cells have now evolved into.
This combo is given till further evidence of progression.
In the BOLERO-2 clinical trial, patients on an average took these medications for 7 months or so. If you understand the law of averages, some pts do worse than 7 months and some do better than 7 months. It is an expensive treatment but if it works well women do well with quality of life with no side-effects of the otherwise traditional chemotherapy.
